Rainy Days

Our weather has been really weird!  We had quite a bit of snow this year and we have had a lot of rain.  I'm fine with it as long as it keeps the temperature down.  We haven't turned on our air conditioner and we are trying to see how long we can go.  If the weather keeps turning cold, we may make it until June!

The kids get pretty bored though.

Soccer Girl

It was a warm Saturday when they played and they decided to look tough and use eye black.  I think it's fun!  They should do it more often.  Courtney's freckles really come out right after a game when she has been in the sun for 90 minutes.

Quinceanera

Courtney was invited to a friend's quinceanera celebration.  I was excited to see one because I hadn't attended one on my mission but I heard all about them.

The girl's dress was beautiful.  It was tipica and was very detailed.  The girl and her sister had played on the same soccer as Courtney so it was fun for them to get together again.  We went for the dinner and it was really good Mexican food!  They had the place all decorated and it was fun to see.  There was a bunch of candy that was Mexican, so it had chili or cayenne pepper all over the outside of it.  Courtney wasn't a fan but she tried it all.

We didn't stay for dancing but it was fun to be there and see how they celebrate.

Happy Easter

So, Ethan was trying to be goofy but I love this picture.  And if you don't know him, you would never know that he was trying to pull a funny face but I caught it before he could!  He was pretty disappointed that it turned out so normal.

Here are our cute kids!

Yea, I know.  What can you do?

Hog and Jog

What could be more fun than a 5K when you get to eat bacon?!  We decided to sign up and participate in the Hog and Jog 5K in Ivins.  The advertisement on the radio said there would be tons of bacon and you could eat all you wanted.  This was what we used to get Ethan to come with us.

We went the night before and picked up our packets which included pig noses, bright pink shirts, and our numbers.

Check out the tail on the back!

Saturday morning we woke up early, went to Unity Park, and got ready to run.  We didn't get the memo that we were supposed to wear our pig shirts so we were a little out of place.  There were a lot of people!  We went north past Unity Park to the Ivins City Cemetery and then all around coming back to the park.  They said that there would be bacon "all along the way at aid stations" so Ethan was banking on there being food along the way.

We got the first, and only, aid station and the girl with a huge smile on her face, handed us cups.  Inside the cup was about 1 Tablespoon of bacon bits.  THAT was the bacon?!  Ethan was NOT amused.  He was so hilarious after that. "Did you see the smile on her face?  She was grinning because she knows that they are pulling a fast one on everyone with those dumb bacon bits!"  I was dying laughing.

When we got to the finish line they had cups of real bacon, bacon wrapped pizza, donuts with bacon on them, and water.  But at 9:00 in the morning, you don't want to eat your fill of bacon wrapped pizza.  Oh well, we got our pig shirts and pig snouts.  It was a fun Saturday morning.

Paper boat

For Ethan's college Physics class, they had to build a boat from milk jugs and cardboard boxes.  Ethan and his group worked on their boat and were pretty proud of it.  Ethan had a math class so he had to rush from class to the Washington City Community Center for the races.  They had to get their boat from one side of the pool to the other.  It was hilarious to watch and brought back a lot of memories from when I did that in my high school physics class!

Ethan told me that he wasn't going to get wet so he didn't need to change into his swimming suit.  Brave kid.  This is what happened...

He got wet!

It was so fun to watch them all race.

New Carpet

We got new carpet!  I am so excited because we haven't had new carpet since we built our house in 2006.  We had to move all the furniture ourselves so Bryan was busy doing that.  We moved the dresser in our closet and found this little guy...

He's fake!  But it made me pause for a minute.

The carpet looks amazing and our bedroom and sitting room now are not separated by a break in the carpet where the wall once was.  So that's great.

Dutch Oven

Our ward was having a BBQ party and they had a couple of competitions.  Bryan said that fruit cobbler would be a more popular dessert than chocolate.  I was shocked so Ethan and I decided to prove him wrong.  Bryan and Courtney made a peach cobbler and entered it into the competition while Ethan and I made a chocolate dessert and entered it.

They were both really yummy and, for the sake of family unity, the bishopric didn't choose either of our desserts to win.  I think we ended up tied or something.  But I still think dutch oven chocolate dessert is the bomb!

Pedicures

The Mia Maids gave the Sunbeams pedicures and it was so cute!  The little girls thought they had died and gone to heaven.  I love these kinds of activities.
