Courtney was a starter in the game against Cedar City. I was excited for her because she has been working to get back in the starting rotation. It was a pretty contentious game but SCHS JV won!
They were playing on real grass, instead of turf, so the ball didn't roll as easily as they were used to. It took some time for them to adjust but they did well.
As Courtney was getting ready for soccer, she pulled her socks up and the left one went up a lot higher than the right one. She realized that last season's socks were shorter than this season's and she had mixed them together. It was hilarious. Then Courtney decided to try and recreate her old soccer photos from when she was little. I think they turned out cute! She has been playing soccer for about 12 years. Crazy!
Ethan played a song for us when we were on the call with him this week. He has been playing the piano since he has been on his mission. Not to be outdone, Courtney got out some old sheet music she liked to play and started playing again. For not playing the piano in years, she did a good job.
The JV team was anxious to play Pineview since their last game had a lightning delay. Courtney was anxious because she wanted to play. The coaches put her in for longer at the end of the game, but it was tough for her to wait. She had a great play and has been working hard to get back in the game.
Courtney's ankle has healed enough that she has been cleared by the trainer to play again. The coaches want to try her just to see how she does so she only played a few minutes at the end of the game at Crimson Cliffs. She did well and didn't seem to have any problems with the ankle.
Each Wednesday night they have "Team Night" for soccer. This week, I was helping with the dinner. We were serving the girls pulled pork, rice, salad, dessert, and bread. I made rolls and cookies. The girls had a great time and everyone got something to eat.
Courtney, Hayley, and Kooper have "their" study room in the Holland Building at DSU. They spent time studying (haha) and going over math problems before their tests. Most of the time they are taking pictures or trying to do TikToks. I think we are going to have senior pictures taken of the three of them in that study room, just to document it.
The soccer game against Pineview was supposed to be played at SCHS. The JV team warmed up but there were lightning strikes too close to the field so the game was put into a lightning delay. The girls grabbed their stuff and went inside the school to wait it out. We went home to wait to see what would happen.
The soccer girls had a blast during the delay. They played soccer in the hallways, watched the SCHS volleyball game, got volleyball shirts, and took pictures.
We need to give a moment of silence for the death of our outdoor light bulb. This bulb was installed in 2006 when we built our house. It was next to the side garage door and has been on constantly since then. The other day it gave up the ghost and had to be changed...after 15 years!
Courtney and Sammie have been best friends since 3rd grade (I think). They have played on club soccer teams together, played on the SCHS soccer team together, run on the SCHS track team together, played on the SCHS basketball team together (that was hilarious), and just being best friends. They are hilarious.
