Halloween

We had our neighborhood party and it was a lot of fun.  It was back to what it used to be...just a bunch of tables and a potluck.  It was fun to sit and talk to neighbors and get to know new people who have moved in.  There weren't games and they didn't have a lot of things going on.  It was just a good time to talk to other people and catch up with those we hadn't seen for a while.

Courtney didn't go trick-or-treating, she's too old.  So she stayed home and watched "Ghostbusters" with Bryan and me while we handed out candy.  Courtney dressed up as "Courtney" for Halloween.  haha!

BYU trip

This week was a sports-fest at BYU.  There was a volleyball game on Thursday, a football game on Friday, a volleyball game on Saturday, and a soccer game Saturday night!  Amazing!!  We decided we couldn't let it go by without going to all the games.

We drove up Thursday afternoon and went to dinner before going to the BYU volleyball game. Bryan was doing everything he could to embarrass Courtney during the dinner.  It was hilarious!

The volleyball game was great.  BYU won handily and it was fun to be there with all the students. We then went to the Air bnb we had for the weekend.  It was a nice place and I was impressed.  There was a cat that really wanted to be let in.

Friday we spent the day exploring around and doing some shopping.  Our van had a little problem with the battery so we had to get a new battery before we could do anything.  It was easy getting it changed by AAA and then we were on our way. Friday night we met up with Ethan and went to the BYU football game.  Ethan had gotten a student ticket for Courtney so they got to sit by each other.

This was the view Bryan and I had of the game.

This was the view Ethan and Courtney had of the game.

Ethan got a CougarTail and at the whole thing!

After halftime, the kids moved up to a less crowded part of the stadium.
It was a beautiful night and such a beautiful view!

On Saturday morning, we invited Ethan and his roommate to the Airbnb for breakfast.  We had breakfast burritos and orange juice.  They were happy to come over and it was nice to meet Ethan's roommate.  There was another volleyball game but Courtney didn't want to go.  So she hung out while Bryan and I went to the game and Ethan did homework.  It was a fun game.

Saturday night was a women's soccer game! The ROC section were given free t-shirts so we had to get there before the shirts ran out.  Ethan made sure that Courtney got one.  They were sitting in the student section while Bryan and I sat in the general seating.  It was cold!!  Ethan was in shorts and Courtney just had a sweatshirt on.  We had blankets because I knew they were going to freeze, so after halftime they came over to sit by us and use the blankets.  It was a great game and Courtney loved watching the BYU team in real life.

Ethan is standing up in the middle of the picture, I don't know if you can see him.

Sunday morning we woke up, ate breakfast together, and then we took off for home while Ethan went back to the dorm to get ready for Church.  It was a fun weekend!

Lizard

Courtney came screaming upstairs yelling that she needed help.  I thought there had to be blood involved but instead, it was a lizard in our basement.  I wasn't going to catch it so I yelled for Bryan who came down with a Tupperware container to catch it.  We think that lizards become paralyzed when they are afraid because the thing didn't move.  Bryan captured it without too much trouble.

He went outside to release the little guy and put him on the ground over the back fence.  But once the lizard hit the ground he didn't move.  So we don't know if he died in the fall or if he was just faking it so we would leave him alone.  Courtney was not happy about the lizard though.

State Championship Game

It was so COLD!  There was rain and the wind was blowing when we went to the RSL Academy to watch the final game of the season.  The seniors not playing would be sitting on the sideline trying to stay warm.  But they wouldn't be playing in the game.  The cool thing was that the announcer announced every name of the girls on the teams.  So that is a great memory!

The team they played was the defending champions and they were good.  There was a really questionable call that took away our only goal and took away all our momentum.  But the girls played hard in the cold and rain.  They lost but it was such an accomplishment to get to the final game.

All the girls were given a blanket with their name on it so they could stay warm on the bus.  I thought this was a sweet gesture by the team moms.

The senior girls and their parents.  We have been on this journey for the last 4 years together (some of us longer than that) and it is a sad thing to see it end.  But the girls are ready to move on.

Semi final game

The soccer team made it to the semi-finals against Sky Ridge High School.  This game was held in SLC so we drove up to watch.  Bryan and I stayed in a hotel while Courtney stayed in another hotel with the team.  This was a crazy game!  SCHS was losing through most of the game and ended up winning in the last few minutes with some crazy goals.  The girls were so excited and I was so happy for them.

The goofy girls had a great time together.

First game on playoffs

The first game of state soccer was played at SCHS because of the standings.  This was exciting! The game ended up being a blowout with SCHS winning handily.  The seniors were all put in because it was obvious that we were going to win.  That made it a really fun game to watch! Since it is breast cancer awareness month, they made this their "Pink" game.  The girls wore pink ribbons.  It was a nice touch.

Trick-or-Treat for cans

Our YW did a trick-or-treat for cans activity.  It was so successful and amazing to see all the people in our neighborhood who would support their effort.  Snow Canyon High School has a food pantry where the students in need are able to get food.  We wanted to help their effort so we collected food and donated them to the school.  It was much needed and much appreciated.  The week before the activity, we put notes on everyone's doors so they could get their food ready.  Some people had it waiting for the girls on their doorsteps, others waited for the knock don't the door.  It was a fun activity.  The YW leaders were dressed as M&Ms (which really isn't my thing but I participated).
