I love that Ethan is still sharing his testimony on Facebook even though he is home from his mission. This was his thought for this week (which was probably an assignment from one of his religion classes, but I'll take it).

Soccer against Desert Hills
Snow Canyon also doesn't like Desert Hills. Rumor has it that Desert Hills is already fundraising for their expenses to go to the championship game for state soccer. So our team is ready to take them down. It was a tough game. Varsity won in overtime and it was a nail-biter. But it was fun watching the girls play!
Courtney came home with some war wounds. She played hard!

Hike the Y
Ethan went with some of his friends and hiked to the Y. He took some really nice pictures while he was up there and shared them with us. He also found a tarantula and tried to pick it up. He said the girls were freaking out so he thought he would pick the spider up to see what would happen. Crazy kid!
More tiling
I wanted to get the tiling finished in the laundry room so Bryan and I tackled that. We had enough left over from the bathroom that I only had to buy a few more tiles. That was a huge plus. And they even had the tile in stock so we didn't have to wait for it. Yeah! I think it turned out really well and now the flooring is all finished, except in the storage room.

Soccer game against Dixie
Games against Dixie High are always tense. Snow Canyon and Dixie are major rivals and things can get pretty chippy during their games. This one was a great game at home.
BYU Freshman Class
I kept telling Ethan that he needed to make sure to get in the BYU freshman class picture. He assured me that he would and he did it! He sent me pics of them trying to get into place and then I found the final one on the BYU Instagram. Ethan is somewhere above the portal in the middle.
The first 2 pictures are ones Ethan took while they were lining up. The pictures are of the jumbo screen across the field from where they are lining up. I hope that makes sense.

Leadership Conference
Ethan attended a Leadership Conference before freshman orientation began. He was bussed up to Aspen Grove where they had classes on the Gospel, leadership principles, and, basically, had a grown-up EFY. I wasn't sure if he was going to like it but he had a great time and made some great friends to start his BYU experience! I'm so glad he was able to go and that he wanted to go. Here are some pictures he sent us of him and his group.

Soccer game
Soccer season has begun so we are spending a lot of our weeknights on the bench at various soccer fields across the city. This is our view from the game tonight at home against PineView. Not too bad.
This season, Courtney is a starter for JV.

Packing up and moving to the dorms
Ethan packed up and got his car all loaded. Everything fit in his car so we didn't have anything in the van.
He loaded his bike on the back of the car and Courtney drove with him (she actually slept part of the way but she was physically with him on the drive).
His room is looking bear again.Ethan had stuff all over the living room as he was putting it in his car.
His appointment to move into the dorms was at 6 pm. We were a bit early so we drove around running some last-minute errands before we went back to see if he could check in a little early. He went to the check-in office and they said it was fine. He got his key, BYU ID card, and the information as to which room he would be staying in.
It only took 2 trips to get everything inside. We then unpacked him. Courtney did his clothes, I made his bed, and Ethan set up his WIFI. Bryan supervised and figured out the WIFI when we weren't sure what was going on (turns out, there is only one live ethernet connection per room so we had to figure out which one was the live one).
One of these things is not like the other...
Ethan is in Building 9, the only one without a name! ;)
We went to dinner and then let Ethan get a good night's rest. Sunday, we went to a random ward that was meeting in the Church by the Provo Temple. When it was time to say goodbye, we took pictures (which Ethan was supposed to send to me), and then we left.
It was rough to say goodbye but not as bad as when he left for his mission. We can still see him and go visit. And he will do great things. I'm excited for his new adventure!

Preseason soccer games
Teams from the northern part of Utah come down to play preseason games against our Region 10 teams. This year we had 4 preseason games but some of them were lightning delays or cancellations. It was kind of crazy because we actually have had a monsoon season this year. It is something we haven't had to deal with for the last few years and I love it!
Anyway, here are some pics from the 3 preseason games where I took pictures. Remember, Courtney is #28.
Their coach is a seminary teacher so they pray before each game (if you were wondering what they were doing in this pic). Courtney is on the left with her number toward the camera).
