I had someone ask me what I do all day so I thought I would tell everyone.
The simple answer is that my job title is Snow Canyon Middle School Registrar. But I have a lot of jobs.
Registrar: I am in charge of all student records. When new students come, I get them into the system or, if they have been at another school in our District, I get them transferred into our computer system. I store grades, get transcripts ready, and am the gatekeeper for the records of the school. I am responsible for the health records for the school. I am responsible to input the immunization records or exemption certificates for the students and enforce the immunization policy. I transfer records for outgoing students and request records for incoming students.
Counseling Office Secretary: I am responsible to keep the flow of things going through the office, make appointments for the counselors, and finding the counselors when someone comes in and needs to see them immediately. I answer the phones and get the calls to the counselors or answer the questions. The District has also asked all the secretaries to clean up the computer system database that we use, so a lot of my time is spent talking to parents trying to get their computer logins to work. It's actually a lot like doing genealogy work because I have to merge people in the system until they are only one person. The system is a mess right now.
Test Proctor: I am responsible for testing at the school (AP, P-ACT, and end-of-year). We have a Spanish AP class that I am responsible for the testing for. Our 9th graders take the pre-ACT test in the Spring, so I am responsible for that test. And the 8th graders take end-of-year tests in Spring and that's my responsibility also. I don't know what it entails except that I have been going to a lot of AP trainings. They said I won't get busy with testing until November.
Nurse Secretary: This is the part of my job I don't like. I am responsible for medication administration for students (which isn't a big deal) but I am the point person if there is an accident or an ambulance needs to be called. I compiled and enter the accident reports if anything happens to students or staff. I have bandaids, Tylenol, and other first-aid things in the sick room that is behind my office. I have been trained to use an epi-pen (which terrifies me) and other things. Our "Cone Site" has a school nurse that we share with 6 other schools so she is super busy. We don't see her unless we call her and ask her to come over, which I do quite a bit. When I have a question, I just text her because I am not a nurse. I am also the one to call home when someone passes out during the mile run in PE, which happens A LOT!
But it is a good job and something I am good at. I can organize and I have been keeping instructions on all the tasks so we have them if anyone needs to fill in. That's something that hasn't been done before. And I get my summers off!!

This week's soccer games
Courtney has games every Tuesday and Thursday, so I'll just sum them up at the end of the week.
Tuesday was a home game against Hurricane. Courtney started but the JV lost. It was a tough game.

Wednesday was a crazy day with soccer practice, team pictures, then team night. We don't have the pictures from the team photoshoot yet, but Courtney sent me this one. They were trying to get their hair right for the picture but it wasn't timed right. haha!

Thursday's game was at Cedar City. The Varsity and JV teams won! Yeah!! Courtney started the JV game and she looked good. They had a hilarious bus ride home where they did "Freshmen Orientation." Courtney was wired when she got home and talked a mile a minute. Ethan tried to copy her but ran out of air. It was hilarious.

This is the roster from MaxPreps that shows Courtney!!

Courtney was kicked in the game against Cedar and her bruise is huge!

Soccer Team Pictures
Courtney had soccer team pictures and they had so much fun! This is a good team where the seniors are very inclusive and sweet to the Freshman. I have been impressed and you can tell by the Freshman picture how much fun they have together. Courtney played JV.
Courtney's individual picture:
The Freshman on the SCHS team. Courtney is third from the right.
I don't know who had this idea but it is hilarious to see the execution. Their strength is obviously in their legs and not in their arms...holding a team member up isn't easy for them.
The SCHS soccer team and their coaches. Courtney is on the front row, fifth from the left.
Just the players. Courtney is on the front row, fourth from the left.

Eagle Mountain Race 1
August 24th was the first race of the mountain bike season. It was held at Eagle Mountain. Bryan, Courtney, and Ethan went up early to pre-ride. I left work a little early to drive up and meet them after they were done. We met up and went to dinner before driving to an Air BNB we had in Herriman. It was a cute little place but we decided we really don't like Air BNB, it's too awkward.

Anyway, we woke up Saturday morning and the boys went to the race while Courtney and I went to do a little shopping. Then we headed for the race.
Bryan helped the team by watching the finish line and letting Feed Zone know what the riders needed when they came through to start another lap. Ethan hung out with friends and Courtney tried to find him so she could hang out with him.

It was a hot, dusty, windy day so by the afternoon they had too many riders who weren't drinking enough water and were having problems with the heat, so they decided to shorten the races by 1 lap. So Courtney would only ride 1 lap and so would Ethan. She was excited. Ethan was kind of bummed because he had his strategy figured out with 2 laps and now he had to re-think it.
Courtney got ready for her ride.

She was pretty nervous but Ethan was a great help and the other riders were great for her. She is the only freshman girl so the other girls were helping her feel more at ease if that was possible. Because she was our only freshman, the coach requested a call-up, so they called her name and put her close to the front for her race.

She had a great race! She hadn't been practicing and she was nervous but she didn't come in last, which was her goal. She is hooked on racing and wants to do it again.
Because Courtney's race was shortened, she was able to go and wish Ethan good luck before he started his race.

Ethan also got a call-up so that was cool. He did a great job too!

Here is his start, a little from his race, and his finish:
After the race was over, the pit zone was taken down, and awards were given, Snow Canyon was in FIRST PLACE again!! Yeah!!
Here is the team (Ethan is standing, 3rd from the left with Courtney on his back):
Ethan is on the far right and they were trying to get Courtney on his back but we missed it.
Our cute kids!

So true!
This is the most true statement I have ever seen. I could also say that "they're often father and son."
What do you think? Which one applies to which person?

Answer: Ethan and I are on the left and Bryan is on the right. Bryan will go for weeks with it on empty just to see how far he can go. Ethan freaks out when it's at half a tank.
