Eagle Scout Pics
We needed some pics of Ethan in his scout stuff for his Eagle Court of Honor invitation. Since we were combining with another family for the court of honor, we decided to take pics with both boys. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it so we just took both boys and took their pic here in Ivins. I thought they turned out great!
Team Night
The moms sign up to do a team night dinner for the basketball team. They do separate ones for the Freshman/Sophomore team and the JV/Varsity team. So there were only freshman and sophomores at the one that I was involved in. Sammie's mom, Meagan, hosted it at her house. We both made soup, I made french bread, and Meagan bought cookies. We set everything up and then waited for the girls to show up.
They are a hilarious group of girls! They were talking about boys, what classes they don't like, how they want to beat the other teams, and other random things. It was fun to sit and listen to them interact with each other. It wasn't too much work and they were great to help clean up but I'm glad I only have to do it once a season.

Senior Lunch
We have 13 seniors in our ward/neighborhood. There is a tradition in our neighborhood for the mom's to do "Senior Lunches" during the senior year of their kids. One of the moms sent a signup sheet around to sign up for days to do the lunches. With 13 kids, you would think that there would be plenty of people to do the lunches. But there ends us that only about 4-5 moms signed up to feed the kids. The seniors are so busy that it's hit and miss with the food. Sometimes there are only 2 kids that show up and other times there are 7-8. I scheduled the lunches for days when Bryan is home (he has every other Friday off of work) so he can be here to help out.
They are a great group of kids and have a lot of fun together. I am so grateful for the neighborhood and community in which we live!

Fish
Courtney got a fish tank from Ethan for Christmas. We went and bought her a betta fish, set up the fish tank, and the next day the fish was dead. Ugh. But there is a 14-day warranty on the fish so we took the dead fish back to the store and got 4 other fish. Courtney took them home, we cleaned the tank, conditioned the water, and put the fish in. Within a few days, they were...dead. It was pretty gross because they had spots all over them, starting having seizures (yes, fish can have seizures and it's weird) and their fins disintegrated. I forgot to keep the receipt so we couldn't take them back and, honestly, Courtney was so traumatized that she didn't want any more fish. But it was a good try and Ethan was her hero for getting her the tank.
These were the last 2 that lasted a few hours longer than the other ones. Poor things.

On a funny note, one of Courtney's friend's changed Courtney's name in her contacts to "Fish Killer." haha!

Japanese Students
At SCMS, we have an exchange with a school in Japan. So our admin and some students go to Japan in October and then in January the Japanese students with their admin come over to our school. The students actually tour all around the District to different schools, but ours is the coolest school. We have stations set up where the students can learn more about what school is about in the US.
The Student Ambassadors are assigned a Japanese student to be their "buddy". The first thing we did is have a waffle breakfast. The US students helped the Japanese students make waffles in our school kitchen. It was crowded and made a huge mess, but they had fun. The Japanese students were hilarious because we had spray whip cream, which they had never used. The US students had to demonstrate and teach the Japanese students how to use it and they loved it! There were a lot of giggles. Courtney didn't have a buddy but she was in a group to help some students make waffles.

After breakfast, they played games with the students and then they took them to class with them. I think everyone had a fun time.

Service Project and Temple Trip
Our ward has been doing a service project with the youth each month. We have a sister in our ward who is single and has a ton of wood that needs to be taken care of during winter. So the youth went over and the young men cut the wood while the young women stacked it. It was a long Saturday morning getting it all done but they did it!

Since our temple has closed for renovation, the young women and young men go to other temples. Each month they do a temple trip and in January they went to Cedar City to do baptisms. It was really cold but they had a great time.
