Pay Phone

Courtney's face says it all...

We saw a payphone when we were buying gas the other day.  It was awesome!  I almost wanted to get out to check for change. ;)

Orchestra Concert

Courtney had her last orchestra concert at Lava Ridge Intermediate.  They sounded great and I would let you have a listen but my internet is being weird so it won't download.  Oh well.  Take my word for it, they sounded great!

End of the Year Review

It was time again for Courtney's dance End of the Year Review.  This was bittersweet because it was her last one.  But I won't miss the carpools, fake eyelashes (which we abandoned when I glued her eye shut), lipstick, and tons of bobby pins.  I will miss watching her dance and watching her smile and enjoy herself.

I made up an invitation because her dance pictures weren't back yet.  I think it turned out cute!

The sun was in her eyes so she wasn't happy with me when we took this pic.
She was much happier at the review when we took her picture.  This dress is the same one she has worn for the last 5 or 6 years.  It was handed down to us by a neighbor and I altered it so it would fit.  It's still beautiful but Courtney is getting tired of it.
Yes, she is wearing her converse shoes with her formal dress.  Get used to it because I don't see it changing any time soon.

They were introduced and then they had their daddy-daughter dance.  Bryan loves being Courtney's escort and loves having a dance with her.

Courtney only had 3 dances this year so she didn't have to rush as fast as she has in past years.  That was good for her.  They did their lyrical dance, jazz dance, and then a hip-hop dance, which was her favorite.

 There she is!

I goofed and cut the video in half.  Oops.

She is somewhere in there ;)

Courtney and another girl earned their awards for being 8 year members of PDT.

We gave her some flowers to celebrate and let her know how happy we are to watch her dance.

Broccoli Beef

We told Courtney she had to try it and this is what she got...

She says she still hates it! ;)

Ethan and his Buddy

Ethan is a bit awkward with babies.  He hasn't had much practice so when he has to hold one it's actually pretty funny. Andrew, Jessica, and their girls were visiting us and Ethan got to practice.  Lizzy seemed to like sitting on his lap.  And he looks natural with her sitting there!  They have such cute little girls!

Courtney's Tooth

Courtney doesn't loose teeth easily.  In fact, she had one tooth that just didn't want to let go.  It was hanging on so tightly, in fact, that the other tooth was growing in sideways underneath it because it couldn't get the tooth out of its way.  She had an orthodontist appointment (they check her every 6 months to see if it's time for braces yet) and the doctor was concerned about the tooth.  He said the tooth wasn't coming out on its own and that it was causing problems.  He gave us the option of letting him dig around and pull it, or making a dentist appointment (which would cost money).  Courtney wasn't too excited to have the orthodontist pull her tooth but, after bribery, she let him try.

He moved things around and loosened up the root while Courtney moved her legs and feet around.  She finally told him to stop so he did.  He told me that we were just going to have to make an appointment with the dentist because he was putting her in too much pain.  She said, "It didn't hurt I just didn't want you to pull it."  Well, if that was the case...he had her lay back down and he went to work.  He got it out and then she got a slushy.  She said it didn't hurt at all but that it was weird having him dig around in there.

Crazy girl!

You can see how far the tooth already has come in.  It was crazy that the other one wouldn't fall out.
She had to bite on tissue for a while to stop the bleeding.

They gave her the tooth in a little treasure box.

She won't be getting braces any time soon because her teeth take forever to fall out.  But we will check them again in 6 months.

Student of the Month Luncheon

Ethan was the February Student of the Month for Success Academy and was honored at a luncheon at the Elk's Lodge.  They took pictures so I don't have any but I will post them when I get them.

It was cute because the other students were all seniors so they were asked to tell what their plans were after high school.  Ethan said, "I'm only a sophomore so I don't know my plans after high school but I plan to serve an LDS mission."  He was cute about it.

It was a nice luncheon and we were educated on what the Elk's Lodge does for our community.

Wrestling

Sometimes the kids are like little bear cubs and just have to wrestle each other.  It's actually hilarious...until someone gets hurt.

Rocky Mountain Review Dance Competition

Courtney had her final dance competition...ever.  She has decided she doesn't want to do dance next year because she wants to focus on soccer.  I am kind of sad because she is a great dancer but I can understand that she wants to focus on something else.

It was a great competition and they did well, again!  I was in a better spot to get photos this time so you can see her walking across the backs of the other girls.

She didn't want me to take her photo so she made a face but I caught this when she was laughing at me.

Courtney is in the center of both photos:

Lyrical dance (which is my favorite one ever):

He's Tall

Ethan is now officially taller than Bryan is!

ZYSO Water Party

Courtney has been a violinist in the Zion Youth Symphony Orchestra this year and they had their end of the year water party.  It was fun because they invited families so we got to see them all interact.  They had water balloon launchers and games.  It was a fun afternoon

Crazy Ethan

Ethan is hilarious.

It's too much of a pain to get a cup but it's easy to get a bunch of straws...

Bryan was cooking mushrooms and Ethan wasn't happy about the smell.

Soccer

Courtney's soccer team is doing really well this season.  They have been in 1st place for most of the time and we are hoping they hang on until the end.

She is the blue #22 player:

The girls she is usually guarding are larger than she is but once in a while she will guard someone her own size, which is fun for her!

National Honor Society

Ethan as invited to join the National Honor Society and we got to go to a dinner for it.  It was fun because the three kids in our neighborhood who attend Success Academy were all asked to join.  Ethan didn't realize that it was a big deal until they started explaining what honor society is and why it's important.  It is the only student organization that you have to be invited to be part of.  It was pretty cool.

The food was weird though.  Bryan thought it was fish but Ethan and I both think it was chicken.  It's not good when you can't identify what you are eating.

His name was announced and he got to walk across the stage to get his pin and his certificate.

I had to get a pic of it and he had to be sarcastic...

Free Pizza!

Little Caesars has a promotion during March Madness that if a number 16 seed beats a number 1 seed team, they will give everyone a free lunch pizza.  Well, it happened. The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) beat the University of Virginia.  So on Monday, April 2nd, we got free pizza for lunch.

It was Spring Recess for Courtney (but not for Ethan) so she went with me to get in line.  I was worried because we were only 20 minutes early to get in line and I thought it was going to be a long line.  But it wasn't at all.  We were given a voucher and then we waited.  They had it planned really well so it didn't take long at all.  We got a personal pizza and a drink.  I gave mine to Ethan and he was in heaven!  It was so large that he couldn't even eat the entire thing.

Thanks UMBCand Little Caesars!

General Conference Time

We have candy at Conference time.  It started with Conference Bingo but we have ditched the game and now I just give them the candy. ;)  They have 1 bag each per session that they can eat at their own speed.  This year I used the scale so no one could complain that "she has more than I do" or "his bag has more candy than mine does."  Each bag weighed the same amount!

Then they all sat quietly and watched conference!

PDT Team Pictures

Courtney had team pictures for dance.  It was at a park in St George that I haven't ever been to before.  It was kind of windy and during a really sunny part of the day so the girls weren't too excited to be having pictures.  And Courtney was supposed to be between two really uncomfortable rocks so she had to balance on one bum cheek.  She wasn't very happy about it all but they were cute.

She wasn't thrilled and started making faces at me. ;)

Courtney kept falling off the rock she was supposed to be balanced on.
But she pulled it off beautifully!
