Bryan and I were able to volunteer at the Open House for the St. George Temple. We had been there before for a tour ourselves so we were a little familiar with it. But it was great to be inside the Temple after so many years and just sit and help people get around.
We showed up early and Bryan was sent across the street to the Church to help over there. He stood in the walkway and helped people get across the street. He also told them that they couldn't bring bags into the Temple but he didn't have to be the enforcer, which was good
I was sent to the temple worker conference room where they showed us a video about volunteering and then I was assigned to be at the bottom of the stairs as people were leaving the Celestial Room, right next to the sealing rooms. I could look up at the ceiling in the hallway and see the side of the original temple through the skylights. It was really cool.
We were there early so it took about 45 minutes for people to get to me so I had time to sit in the chair, look at some beautiful paintings, and just enjoy being in the quiet. It was cool. The only unfortunate part was that my shirt was the same color as the chairs that were in that area. Many people commented on it and it got old. But that's ok.
When we finished our time volunteering, I found Bryan and we went home. I can't wait until the temple is dedicated.
