Volunteering

Ethan is volunteering at two different elementary schools to get more service hours for his portfolio for Sterling Scholar.  He is helping at Santa Clara Elementary, where he went to school, on two days each week.  He has students read to him and he helps out in classrooms wherever they need him.  They love having him there.

One of the counselors took this picture for me.  She said Ethan is so cute with the little kids and they love him.

Once a week, Ethan volunteers at Red Mountain Elementary in Ivins.  At this school, there is a little boy who reads to Ethan and it's so cute to see Ethan on those tiny Kindergarten chairs.

We got a new TV!

Our TV finally gave up the ghost.  It has been hobbling along but it finally gave out.  We could hear sound but we couldn't see anything.  So we went to Costco and bought another one on sale.  The only problem is that I don't know how to work it. haha!

It's bigger than our old TV so Bryan is going to have to redesign our entertainment center to make it fit.  He is really excited about that because he loves doing things like that.

More mountain bike pics

Here are some fun pictures from the State Championships and from the awards ceremony, which warded SCHS mountain bike team 1st place in State again!!

Ethan at State Championships

Ethan had his last high school mountain bike race.  It was a bitter-sweet race.  On one hand, it was the culmination of 4 years of work and he did a great job.  On the other hand, it's over and that's sad.  It has been such a great experience.

The senior moms got together and made candy/money leis for the seniors.  The coaches put them on the seniors after their final race.  It was awesome and I may have shed some tears.

Grandma and Grandpa Pack came from Colorado, Grandma and Grandpa Oman came from St. George, and Aunt Leigh Ann came from Salt Lake City, so we had a great group of cheering family.

Ethan's signature move is to stick his tongue out!

Here are the videos of Ethan's race.  We had to run from one part of the trail to another so we could get good video and pictures.

Courtney at State Championships

Courtney had her State Championship race on October 18th.  She was nervous but excited to ride again.

This was her face before the race...

Here are the pictures of cute Courtney riding.

Getting some advice from her brother.

Getting ready to start.

Starting the race

Courtney tried to save her energy when riding the first loop.  She did really well and it was fun to watch her go by us.  Unfortunately, she was a couple minutes slower than the cut off time for the first lap.  So they pulled her.  She was so upset and we could completely understand.  She wanted to finish the race and they wouldn't let her.  I understand that they don't want riders on the trail forever, but they let riders by after her, so we didn't know if they pulled her for some other reason or if it really was because of the time.  We found out that it was because of time but we were still sad and disappointed.

Courtney wants to do mountain biking again next year but she won't be able to with soccer going also.  But she had a great time riding with her big brother.

Senior Night

Courtney had her last soccer game of the season.  It was Senior Night so there were balloons and all kinds of fun things.  Courtney had a great season and is excited to play soccer again next year.

The Seniors made these shirts for the team.  It was the team theme for this year.

Price Race

The mountain bike race in Price was cold and windy.  Ethan did a great job at the race.  Courtney didn't ride but she was there to support.  Bryan had his uncle's funeral so he drove with us to Price but then went on to the funeral while we stayed for the race.

The trail was brand new so it was dusty but he did well.

He had a little crash that resulted in blood, but it wasn't as bad as other crashes that day.  The poor kid in the center of the other picture required stitches for his crash.

Ethan was pretty dusty when he finished but he had a smile on his face.
