Evaluation

We didn't know how Courtney had  scored on her evaluation because she performed early and the judge didn't give us much feedback.  She was dying to know.  Her teacher told me she would text us on Saturday so we would know but I didn't get a text and we forgot about it.  Monday morning I sent her a quick text to find out and she called me back.  Turned out that she didn't have my cell phone number so she couldn't text, but Courtney had earned a SUPERIOR on her song.  That meant that, had we been in town on Saturday, she would have been asked to perform in the honors recital Saturday afternoon.  I was glad we weren't in town because that recital was SO LONG last year.  But it was a great accomplishment for her and we are so proud of how hard she worked on her song.

Her piano teacher has a big window in the front of her house and she writes sayings and things on it.  She changes them quite frequently and has a lot of fun with it.  She called to tell me that Courtney's name was up on her window as congratulations so we went over there after school to take a photo.

Going to Phoenix

Friday morning we woke up, packed the van and took off for Phoenix. Gary's funeral was at 3 pm so we had to get going. We made it in plenty of time to check in to the hotel, change our clothes and get to the funeral home.

It was a nice service where people were invited to tell stories and share their memories of Gary. It was fun to hear the hilarious stories of him. It was nice. Then we went to the Church for dinner. The women were so nice to put it together for us.

Saturday morning we let the kids watch tv for a bit before eating breakfast at the hotel. At one point, Bryan handed the controller to Ethan. Ethan was thrilled!!

Then we went to Leigh Ann's house to hang out and wait for the bowling alley to open. Then we all went and had fun!

Ethan was having a bad game and was starting to get upset with himself.  He had a split and Bryan told him that if Ethan could knock down the remaining pins, Bryan would give him $5.00.  Ethan is a sucker for money so....he knocked down the remaining pins!
Courtney asked if she could get the same deal but was unable to knock down the pins.  Here is what she looked like when Bryan gave her a "pity dollar."
A little bit later, Ethan had another split and Bryan said, "I will give you another $5 if you knock all the pins down."  Ethan took that challenge and...knocked the pins down again.
This was Bryan's reaction:

The money was just burning a hole in Ethan's pocket and there was a snack bar, so Bryan took him up and bought Courtney lunch and Ethan bought loaded cheese fries to share with everyone.

We had a fun time bowling!

Piano Recital

It was a crazy Thursday and I'm not getting these posted in order, but oh well.

Courtney had her piano recital Thursday night. She did a great job!!

Here is the video:

Cheerleader

Courtney participated in the Snow Canyon High School cheerleading camp. She was so excited To be able to participate. They practiced once a week for 3 weeks and then cheered during halftime of last Thursdays game. She had a blast. Here is the video.

Courtney is on the front row, second from the left.  She is between the girl with black sweat pants and the girl with gray leggings.

Piano Evaluation

Courtney was scheduled to have piano evaluations on Saturday but we weren't going to be in town. Her piano teacher arranged for Courney to play early for the judge. So Wednesday night she got all ready and we went to her evaluation. She did awesome and earned a Superior rating. If we would have been around, she would have been invited to play in the honors recital.
This is her piano tracher's "congratulations" window with Courtney's name on it!!

Crazy Tuesday

We had one crazy Tuesday last week. Courney had dance, Ethan had a flag football game, Bryan was coaching the flag football game, and I had a Telief Society meeting. So we were all running all over the place.

The Relief Society meeting was a chili/corn bread cook off. I won 3rd place for my corn bread. I'm not a fan of chili so I was glad that my running around made it so I was late for the chili.

That was Ethan's last game for this season. He did really well and I think he had fun although the rest of his team were little. One of the parents sponsored a pizza party for their last regular game. They had a lot of fun!

Soccer Photos

I wasn't home for soccer pictures but one of the moms sent me a photo. They are a cute team!!
