Student Council

Courtney wants to do EVERYTHING!  She came home from school with a Cougar Choir form and wanted to sign up to do the choir and the drum corp.  The next day she came home with an application for student council.  She is playing soccer, taking piano lessons, in early morning orchestra, dance and going to try out for Jr. All Stars (a dance team within her dance team).  She is just a firecracker!!

The way they do student council is a bit different at the elementary school.  The students fill out the form explaining why they would be great on student council.  They have to get 3 teacher signatures and then turn it in by the deadline.  The candidates then make a poster and have to give a speech in front of their class.  The class then votes and the top 6 go on to the interview process.

Here is Courtney's poster which she made ALL BY HERSELF!  She didn't want any help, although she had me print the pictures for her but that was all.

The voting in class took place and she was bummed that she didn't make it.  She was the 7th person!

The next week they sent a note home saying that the voting was close and so every student would be going through the interview process.  They have 3 teachers and 3 student council members from the high school who do the interviews.  The committee, along with the teacher of each class, will then make the final decision on the 2 members of the class who will be on the student council.

Courtney is still waiting to do her interview and the decision is supposed to be made by September 19th.  I'll keep you updated!
