Halloween

This was a crazy Halloween!  Courtney and her friends wanted to go as drinks but she couldn't figure out what she wanted to do for a costume.  Finally, the day before Halloween, she decided she wanted a t-shirt with the CapriSun logo on it.  I had some transfer paper so I bought a t-shirt at Michael's and went to my parent's house to get the transfer done on an inkjet printer.  I went home and followed the directions but it had one corner that wasn't stuck down to the shirt.  I read the directions and it said to put the transfer paper back on the shirt and iron it a bit to fix it.  But it didn't fix it...it ruined the entire iron-on!!  It was so awful.  Courtney was gone so I drove quickly back to Michaels and bought 2 more shirts (just in case I messed up again) and went to my parent's house.  I printed 2 more iron-on sheets and went back home.  I successfully did 2 shirts and then let Courtney pick which color she wanted.  I think it turned out pretty well!

Ethan took on the challenge of answering the door for the trick-or-treaters.  He put on his mask and answered. It was hilarious and the kids loved it when he opened the door!

Courtney and her friends met at our house and then went trick-or-treating around our neighborhood...and they got a ton of candy!

Cookies

For their Halloween activity, the young women decorated cookies and then delivered them.  They had a lot of fun, even though there were only 4 of them that were able to show up.

Cowboy Day at School

In October the school does dress up days.  One of those was "Cowboy Day".  We got Courtney a cowboy hat at Partyland so she would look like she was dressed up.  But her friend Emma went beyond that!  She showed up dressed like a cow, with shoes to match!  It was awesome so they looked like the cowboy and the cow.

End of Season Banquet

We had the End of Season Banquet and it was so fun!  I was in charge of the senior blankets.  Since we are a new team, and we only had 1 senior last year, we had to figure out what kind of traditions we wanted to start.  The other sports always give their athletes "Senior Blankets" and that was something I wanted to give to Ethan.  The other senior moms were happy to do it and I was able to find a really good deal on plush blankets at Costco.  The wife of one of the teachers at the school does embroidery.  So I contacted her and she was able to get the blankets done for us in time.  They turned out really good!

The dinner was nice.  They had a slideshow of all the kids and one of the moms made a bunch of "yearbooks" and each rider got one.  It was really cool.  In years past, the kids had been given frames with team pictures and their race plates in them.  This year they found that it was cheaper to do the yearbooks instead of the frames.

They did senior spotlights and the coaches were able to say something about the kids.  I put the video of Ethan's coach after these pictures.  At the end, they did a final Warrior cheer for the season.  I was really emotional because it is the end of mountain biking for us and it was such a great experience.  I was so glad Ethan did it and was involved for all 4 years of high school.  It's been so fun to watch him and I love going to the races.

Courtney had her tooth pulled

Courtney has a weird mouth of teeth. ;)  She is missing two adult teeth.  Because of this, her baby teeth weren't being pushed out and she had an adult tooth coming in strangely because the baby tooth was hanging on so long.  The orthodontist told me that Courtney needed to have her tooth pulled in order to keep progressing with her braces.  So we made an appointment.

I had to work but Bryan was able to take her.  He picked her up from school, took her to the dentist, and 30 minutes later she was finished.  Bryan took her home and then he went back to work because she was doing fine.  Her lips were kind of swollen so she didn't like smiling, plus she had a hole in her smile.  But she did great!

Yearbook

Courtney and her best friend are in the yearbook class at SCMS.  The pages they were assigned were Fall sports.  So when they finished their pages, they don't have much to do.  When they took yearbook staff pictures, the two of them had a lot of fun.  It took them forever to get Courtney on Sammie's shoulders, but they finally did it!

They are hilarious because they leave class all the time since they don't have anything to do.  And their teacher doesn't even care that they are wandering the hallways.  They usually come to my office to see if there is anything they need to do for me.  It's pretty hilarious.

Volunteering

Ethan is volunteering at two different elementary schools to get more service hours for his portfolio for Sterling Scholar.  He is helping at Santa Clara Elementary, where he went to school, on two days each week.  He has students read to him and he helps out in classrooms wherever they need him.  They love having him there.

One of the counselors took this picture for me.  She said Ethan is so cute with the little kids and they love him.

Once a week, Ethan volunteers at Red Mountain Elementary in Ivins.  At this school, there is a little boy who reads to Ethan and it's so cute to see Ethan on those tiny Kindergarten chairs.

We got a new TV!

Our TV finally gave up the ghost.  It has been hobbling along but it finally gave out.  We could hear sound but we couldn't see anything.  So we went to Costco and bought another one on sale.  The only problem is that I don't know how to work it. haha!

It's bigger than our old TV so Bryan is going to have to redesign our entertainment center to make it fit.  He is really excited about that because he loves doing things like that.

More mountain bike pics

Here are some fun pictures from the State Championships and from the awards ceremony, which warded SCHS mountain bike team 1st place in State again!!

Ethan at State Championships

Ethan had his last high school mountain bike race.  It was a bitter-sweet race.  On one hand, it was the culmination of 4 years of work and he did a great job.  On the other hand, it's over and that's sad.  It has been such a great experience.

The senior moms got together and made candy/money leis for the seniors.  The coaches put them on the seniors after their final race.  It was awesome and I may have shed some tears.

Grandma and Grandpa Pack came from Colorado, Grandma and Grandpa Oman came from St. George, and Aunt Leigh Ann came from Salt Lake City, so we had a great group of cheering family.

Ethan's signature move is to stick his tongue out!

Here are the videos of Ethan's race.  We had to run from one part of the trail to another so we could get good video and pictures.

Courtney at State Championships

Courtney had her State Championship race on October 18th.  She was nervous but excited to ride again.

This was her face before the race...

Here are the pictures of cute Courtney riding.

Getting some advice from her brother.

Getting ready to start.

Starting the race

Courtney tried to save her energy when riding the first loop.  She did really well and it was fun to watch her go by us.  Unfortunately, she was a couple minutes slower than the cut off time for the first lap.  So they pulled her.  She was so upset and we could completely understand.  She wanted to finish the race and they wouldn't let her.  I understand that they don't want riders on the trail forever, but they let riders by after her, so we didn't know if they pulled her for some other reason or if it really was because of the time.  We found out that it was because of time but we were still sad and disappointed.

Courtney wants to do mountain biking again next year but she won't be able to with soccer going also.  But she had a great time riding with her big brother.
