 We need to get this shirt for Bryan.  Even Courtney laughed when she saw it so that's a plus.

Sunset

Courtney took a cool picture of the sunset using the side mirror of the car.  We were going to the store when she noticed how cool the sunset looked and decided to take a unique picture.  I think they turned out neat.

Alumni Creamery

 When Courtney and I were driving around looking at homes, we saw the Alumni Creamery.  One of Courtney's friends had told her that we had a BYU Creamery in town but I hadn't ever seen it.  Well, we do!!  I was so excited.  For Family Home Evening, we went out to show Bryan some Parade homes and we went to the Alumni Creamery for dessert.  It was yummy!  Since our order was over $10 they gave us a free empty bucket.  I don't know what I'll put in it but I'll figure something out.  We need to go back more so we can get more buckets. ;) 

It's a cold one

We keep track of the weather where Ethan is on his mission and this morning was a special weather statement.  It is going to be "bitter cold" where he is!  I hope he bundles up.

Valentine's Day Eve

Bryan enlisted Courtney's help to give me a very special Valentine's Day surprise.  She took me out to look at homes in the Parade of Homes and kept me out for a long time while Bryan got a special dinner ready for me.  I didn't know anything was going on so I wanted to go home.  But she kept driving so slowly and taking detours and wanting to go shopping.  When we finally got home, it was about 30 minutes before she was supposed to have brought me home, so I got to help Bryan finish the dinner  It was so nice and I loved it!  They spoil me!

New Garage Door Lifter

 Our garage door lifter gave up the ghost.  It needed a new circuit board, which wasn't a bad fix but we had been having problems with it for a while so we decided to get a whole new lifter.  When we had our solar panels put on our house, the ones above the garage interfered with the signal from our clickers in the cars to the receiver on the lifter.  It has been a struggle on bright, sunny days to get the garage door opened.  Lately, we had been getting locked out because the keypad was on the fritz and the clickers would only work if you were right next to the garage door.  So we needed to do something different.

The man came out and told me that they could install a new lifter and put in belts instead of chains, which would make the garage door really quiet.  The new signals in the lifters aren't bothered by solar panels, so we wouldn't have problems with that anymore.  So we decided to go for it. 

It took a couple hours but they got the new lifter installed and got the belts installed.  I didn't realize how squeaky our garage door was until the lifter was silenced!  The man sprayed it with spray to try and get it to quiet down but it took a couple more days of me putting WD40 on the joints for it to stop making such a horrible noise.

The door does come with wifi connectivity.  It only came with one clicker so I bought a second one,  But Courtney wanted a clicker too.  We set up our door to open using an app and then installed it on Courtney's phone.  She was thrilled to be able to open the garage door from anywhere!!  As you can tell, she was giddy with power!

Culinary Chemistry

Courtney's Chemistry class for this semester is "Culinary Chemistry" which I think would be so much fun but she isn't a huge fan of.  They popped popcorn one day, made butter another, were assigned to make a gravy or sauce for homework, and made freezer jam.  I don't know what class would be more fun than that...although they weren't allowed to eat the popcorn, the butter smelled "weird", and Courtney wasn't sure how sanitary the beakers were when they made freezer jam.

But she is learning!

This is her freezer jam which we did not eat because we weren't sure how sanitary everything was when she made it in the lab.  But I'm sure it worked out beautifully.

7 Elite Academy World Invitational

Courtney's soccer team was hosting a tournament in St. George on Friday and Saturday.  She had 2 games on Friday and one game on Saturday.  They were in a tough bracket and played well, but ended up losing all three games.  Courtney was able to play in a good chunk of the second game on Saturday and loved it!

RINQ

There is a new rollerskating place in town called The Rinq.  The young women went there for their activity.  Courtney had been before with her friends but they went for a couple hours and it was too long.  The young women only went for an hour and she had a lot more fun.
