Courtney had, what my visiting teacher called, a "sweet breakdown" yesterday in Church. When the classes wer dismissed from Junior Primary she was just fine, but when she saw Ethan waiting to go into his class, she started screaming and wanted to be with her brother. She didn't want Bryan or I, she just wanted her big brother. His teacher, who is my visiting teacher, was so nice and let Courtney stay in their class for a while. Ethan took good care of her while she was there.
During the prayer of Sunday School I thought I heard Courtney screaming but Bryan couldn't hear anything so we just ignored it. Before Relief Society a friend asked me how Courtney was. I went out and asked a counselor in the Primary Presidency if she was okay and she didn't know anything. She looked in Courtney's class but she wasn't there. So she looked in Ethan's class and there she was with Ethan and his friends taking care of her.
I took her and tried to get her to go back to her class. It wasn't easy but I finally took her in there and we sat for a while. But we ended up in Relief Society for the last 15 minutes. But afterward, everyone thought it was so cute that Courtney would want Ethan so much and that he was so willing to take care of her. They make a cute pair!
Hopefully next week she will be fine.

Patience
I am not one that is known to have patience. I get a "bee in my bonnet" and I can't rest until something is dong, but I really have no patience to wait for things to happen. Bryan is usually the one with all the patience.
Yesterday Ethan wanted to play a game on the computer but the game he wanted to play had to have something downloaded. So Bryan helped him download the file...with a HUGE virus attached to it. It was Anti-virus 360 and it was horrible. It affected the internet and wouldn't let us get on sites that needed passwords (which really is a blessing because they couldn't get our passwords). But we couldn't do anything on the internet and it was attaching itself to everything.
Bryan tried for 3 hours to fix it. He had the laptop next to him and searched the internet on that to find sites to help him fix it. But most sites would be blocked by the virus so he couldn't get help. He was so frustrated and finally washed his hands of it.
I decided to give it a try. I found a site (www.majorgeeks.com) that had a 5 step process to get rid of it. I had to download 5 programs and then run them, in order, to get the virus and all its extensions cleaned up. It took about 4 hours to do (I got a lot of Ensign reading done that I haven't had time to catch up on, so it was good) but it worked!! I finished at about 11:57, so I didn't have to do any of it on Sunday, an added bonus.
But I don't think Ethan is going to play any more games if something has to be downloaded. Because I'm not sure if I'll have patience to do the clean up again!

Swimming
We usually go swimming as a family on Friday night. But the last few weeks Bryan has had a Church basketball game at night and so I have taken the kids and gone earlier in the day (Ethan has early out every Friday so we go after school). Last Friday Ethan didn't want to go without Bryan but Courtney had her heart set on going. The solution? Swimming in the bathtub. She loved it but there was water everywhere. She even found a slide!

Courtney's Talk
There are some days when I wish you could video tape Church. Today was one of them. Courtney was asked to give a talk in Junior Primary and she was so excited. All week we talked about what she should do. The topic was "I am a child of our Heavenly Father." She kept telling me over and over that she didn't want any help. I knew that meant that we had to do something simple that she could easily do on her own. All the little Sunbeam girls really want to sing into the microphone. I thought this would be a good chance to get that desire out of Courtney's system. We decided that she should sing the first verse of "I am a Child of God" as her talk. She loved the idea and used the karaoke microphone to practice a few times, she even said "In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen" when she was finished.
When I went into Junior Primary to hear her Bryan was in the hall talking to someone. Courtney was a bit nervous because she wanted both of us there. When Bryan walked in, her little face just lit up and she was ready to go. They announced that it was her turn and she hopped up there. She looked around then looked at me and I nodded my head and she was off. She grabbed the microphone like a pro and belted out the song. I'll tell you, it was so reverent and quiet in that primary room when she was singing that you could have heard a pin drop. It was the neatest thing and she did a wonderful job. She even remembered to end it correctly.
It just brought back to me, once again, how powerful music is in bringing the Spirit into our lives. I'm grateful that Courtney didn't want help and decided to sing so that we could feel that quiet, peaceful feeling during Junior Primary.

My Cute Kids
I know, everyone thinks their kids are the cutest, but I think this photo puts all the arguments to rest! ;)
Game Night
We had a game night with some friends tonight and it was a lot of fun. We made homemade pizzas (everyone brought their favorite toppings and we supplied the crust and sauce). While we were making the pizzas the kids watched Scooby Doo. They seemed to love it because they watched it for a long time.
After dinner, the adults played games while the kids just played (or watched Scooby Doo). Then we had pie (really good pie made by my friend Jane) and a brownie pizza. It was a good night!

Making EASY Carmel
I saw this posted on the internet and didn't believe it. But then Bryan and I went through our food storage and we had a few cans of Sweetened and Condensed Milk that were going to expire soon, so I thought I would try it. This is the EASY way to make carmel (like what you would pour on ice cream or dip apples in).
Take as many cans as you want of Sweetened and Condensed Milk and take their labels off. Put the unopened cans in a pot (I did 2 cans at a time in a small pot, but you could do a bunch at a time in a larger pot) and cover the cans completely with water. Turn the heat on and wait for the water to boil. Turn the heat down until the water is at a continual simmer. Keep the water simmering for 3 hours (you need to add more water every 20-30 minutes so the cans are always covered with water). Let them cool a bit and then use a can opener and you will see that the Sweetened Condensed Milk has changed to carmel...good carmel.
The site I read said that the woman gives these out to neighbors at Christmas time with a bag of apples. She had a cute label to go along with it. It's an easy thing to do and, as one of my friends pointed out, could be a good science project.
