Singing at the Dickens Festival

The Cougar Choir from Ethan's elementary school was invited to sing at the Dickens Festival today. I was asked to go to help out with "crowd control" and Courtney came with us. They did a great job and Ethan had fun singing.

Snow!

We woke up this morning to this scene outside:



It has been cold in St. George and we knew a storm was coming in, so we were anxious to see if there was snow. And there was...just a tiny bit, but enough to say that there was snow! Courtney quickly got dressed and ran out to play in it. Yeah!!

Birthday Cookie

Ethan wanted it documented that he made cookies on Bryan's birthday, all by himself (we have created a monster cookie maker), and he put candles in it for Bryan's birthday. I forgot about that and didn't put this picture up on the previous post. Ethan noticed that, so here is the correction!

Black Friday

I usually love shopping on Black Friday. I scour the newspaper ads for all the things I need to get and then I make a "plan of attack." But this year I had pretty much everything taken care of, so I didn't have that much to buy on Black Friday.

I woke up early, exercised and then decided that I should at least give it a try. Courtney had to go with me, so at 7 a.m. we took off for Joann's, Walmart and Kmart. Joann's was crowded and the lines for forever long. I have enough flannel left over from last years purchase that I didn't feel the need to stand in line for hours getting more.

So we loaded back into the van and drove to Walmart. There wasn't a crowd at all and all the high ticket items were still there...in bulk! I was shocked. One cashier told me that the only thing they had run out of was the Leapsters. They even had Wiis left over and a bunch of huge TVs. I was shocked. We picked out a few items for people and then decided to run to Kmart.

At Kmart it was the same story. I couldn't believe it. We went in to see if they still had any EZ Up awnings left over. They were really discounted and I wanted one for camping, so we wouldn't have to borrow my parent's all the time. They had about 20 of them left over! I was shocked.

We went back home, I snuck out a few hours later and went back to Walmart for stocking stuffers, but everything was still there. Weird. But it was a good day!

Happy Birthday Bryan!

Last Wednesday was Bryan's birthday. I made his birthday breakfast of biscuits and gravy, oj (Tang) and orange rolls. He went to work and they bought him lunch. He came home early and worked on building shelves for the garage. Then I cooked his birthday dinner of grilled chicken with lemon pepper marinade (which made them go freakishly yellow for some reason), pan fried potatoes and salad. It was yummy. We topped it all off with a birthday peach pie!

Happy Birthday!!! Courtney loves telling people that "My dad is finally the same age as my mom!!" Yeah, thanks sweetheart.

Pack Meeting

We had an awesome pack meeting tonight at the St. George Police Department. Ethan earned 5 belt loops, 1 pin and advanced (he earned his Wolf badge). Courtney and I were a bit late because she had dance practice, but I got there in time to see him advance. It was really cool and they did some awesome stuff, even painting their faces with different colors to symbolize things. It was fun.

When it was over, we all got a tour of the police station. That was really neat to see how it all runs and walk through the different offices.

Courtney's Thanksgiving Feast

Each year the Kindergarten does a Thanksgiving Feast. They dress as pilgrims or indians and chow down. Unfortunately, this year the cafeteria did their feast early and the teachers didn't know. So instead, the kindergarten kids got to eat a lot of pumpkin stuff! They ate pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin pie, pumpkin pudding (which they assured me was gross!) and pumpkin ice cream (which Courtney LOVED!). It was fun to watch them all.


She did enjoy it, although this picture makes it look otherwise ;)
