Dancer of the Week

Each week in Courtney's dance class, a girl is chosen to be the Dancer of the Week. Each week Bryan picks up the girls and watches as the award is given out. Each week he hopes it will be given to Courtney. Last Monday Bryan was a bit early to pick up the girls so he sat in the car listening to the radio. When he went in to get Courtney, she came out with the certificate for Dancer of the Week and a huge smile on her face. He was really bummed that he missed it but very excited that she finally got the award.

It is now on our fridge and probably will be for a long time!

Courtney's Field Trip

The kindergarten students went on a field trip Wednesday to Rosenbruch Wildlife Museum. We have been there MANY times before because we always get at least 2 free coupons from the school each year. I went as a chaperone. I was running a bit late that morning and when I went out to get in the van to drive to the school I discovered that the van had a flat tire! I quickly called my friend who has a son in Courtney's class and she gave me a ride to the school. THANKS!!

The kids were split into three groups (by classes) and tour guides took them through the museum to highlight the interesting animals. After doing that for about an hour, we all went into the theater to watch a movie. It was really long and they were tired by that point, but it was a fun movie about animals in Africa.

Then we took pictures, loaded on the bus and went back to school. The highlight for many of the kids was the bus ride! ;)

Easter Sunday

Here are the cute kids in their Sunday Easter finery. They got some candy, a swimming pool, swimming suits and cute Sunday clothes for Easter. (Too bad the swimming suits are too small and they yanked off the tags.)

Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt

We had our annual neighborhood Easter egg hunt today. It was at the Church this year because no one really wanted it at their house. ;) It worked out great. Every family drops off 12 eggs per child to the family who is organizing the hunt. (They have to drop them off by Friday night.) Then on Saturday, each street is responsible for something different (juice, milk, donuts, muffins) and we all meet at 9:30 for the hunt. The kids 0-3 years old go first. They get to gather 12 eggs. Then the kids 4 to 7 go next. Then the 9+ crowd is let loose. It is a lot of fun. We get to visit with our neighbors while the kids run around and have a blast.

Soccer Girl!

Courtney loves soccer. And she is pretty good at playing it too. Her season with Ivins Soccer is starting to wind down. She only has 2 games left. But she wants me to sign her up for soccer camp this summer. Cute girl!

Courtney's Luck!

Every Spring the PTA at the elementary school has a basket raffle. Each grade is asked to make a basket to donate. The classes in that grade choose a theme (a book, a college, etc.) and then ask the parents of the students to donate items going along with the theme. For 2 weeks the baskets are in the hallway on a table. Each student in the school gets one free ticket to put in the jar for the basket they want to win. Then each ticket thereafter is 25 cents.

In the past, Ethan has begged me to send extra money with him so he could get more raffle tickets and he has never won. This year he didn't even ask, so I didn't bother sending money with Courtney either because I figured she wouldn't win. And, they had their free ticket, so I thought their chances were fine.

Today, while running errands, my friend (who works at the school) sent me a text saying that Courtney had won the BYU raffle basket! I about died! I was on my way to the school to help with Courtney's class Easter egg hunt so I quickly turned the van toward the school. When I showed up Courtney and her teacher were super excited. It was hilarious!

After the egg hunt, Courtney and I went to the office to get her basket. Since we weren't putting money in them, I hadn't paid much attention to the baskets in the hallway. Her basket was LOADED! They took her picture with it and then let us go. (The school secretary told me that just that morning a teacher had put $20 or $30 worth of tickets in to try and win the BYU basket. They were happy that Courtney won with her free ticket.)

When we arrived home Courtney had to open her basket. It was really deceiving. It had A LOT more stuff in it than I realized. She got a BYU t-shirt (size Large so she gave it to Ethan), 6 packs of crayons, 3 notebooks, 2 packs of colored pencils, 40 regular pencils, 2 sets of markers, 2 drawing pads, 8 books, 2 big bags of candy, a basketball, a playground ball, 6 BYU folders, 3 BYU book covers, a calculator, a Santa Clara Reads shirt, some Girl Scout thin mints, 10 glue sticks, a ruler, safety scissors, a roll of Otter Pops, and a puzzle book. (I think that was it.)

I kept telling her not to brag to Ethan when he got home and she decided that she would put some of her loot on his bed so then he would be a winner too and she wouldn't be able to brag. Smart girl! So he got her BYU t-shirt, a couple BYU folders and a BYU book cover. He may get more out of her, but I'm pretty excited that I have most of her school supplies for next year!

Ethan's Field Trip

The third grade classes had a field trip on Wednesday to the Santa Clara River. There were 4 wildlife biologists there to explain about habitats, snakes, fish and how they count/tag fish. It was a lot of fun for the kids and Ethan had a blast. It wasn't bad weather either.

When they finished with their four rotations, they did a service project of cleaning up trash around the river. We then rode in a bus to the Santa Clara Park and had lunch/played. My parents took Courtney so I could go along and it was a lot of fun.
