Teenager Minute

When Ethan was little he would ask if something was a "kid minute" or a "mom minute."  Apparently mom minutes are 5x as long as kid minutes.  Well, the tables have turned and I Pajama Diaries to thank for the proof!

Dryer vent

Our clothes dryer hasn't been drying the clothes very well for a while now.  It has been taking more and more cycles to get it dried and it's been driving me nuts!  Finally one day it took 3 hours to dry a load of whites and I was done.  Bryan has a friend with a company that cleans out dryer vents, so Bryan called him.  He came over and started cleaning.

It took a couple hours.  He took our dryer apart to clean it out, cleaned the wall vents, and cleaned everything up.  When he finished he told me it should dry really well.  When I asked why, he showed me these pictures:

That's GROSS!!  We actually had fluff coming off our pipe on the roof so much that the lid wouldn't fit on the vent!  No wonder it was taking a long time to dry out laundry.  Lucky that we didn't have a fire!

The next load that I dried only took 20 minutes and it was completely dry!  I have been so amazed and how well it has been doing laundry.  It now takes longer to wash the clothes than to dry them and it gets them dry in one cycle.  Who knew?!?!

Let me know if you need your pipes cleaned and I can give you his number.  He did a great job and was easy to work with.

Mountain biking

Bryan and Ethan try to go mountain biking every Tuesday to keep Ethan in shape and to help Bryan get in shape.  They had a rough outing one day.

This is Bryan's wound and I think Ethan had something bloody too.

Flowers

Our yard was colorful!!...for a couple of days before the lilies died and the one group of lilacs dried up.  But I got a picture so I have proof!!

Scriptures

You gotta hate it when your dad studies D&C 58:26-29 right before you say "I'm bored, there's nothing to do."

26 For behold, it is not meet that I should command in all things; for he that is compelled in all things, the same is a slothful and not a wise servant; wherefore he receiveth no reward.
27 Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness;
28 For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And inasmuch as men do good they shall in nowise lose their reward.

29 But he that doeth not anything until he is commanded, and receiveth a commandment with doubtful heart, and keepeth it with slothfulness, the same is damned.

That's the last time Ethan has said "I'm bored" when Bryan was around!

Old School

Ethan and I were visiting the pawn shops in town in search of a game for his 3DS when I saw this....

I stopped in my tracks and had to take a picture of it.  If it wasn't so expensive ($150), I would have bought it because Grandma Andersen had one in her basement for years and we would play with it.  It's great with the green carpet!  What memories this machine brought back!! You put that yellow/orange strap around you and then start the machine.  It shakes you and shakes away your fat!

This is the ad from JCPenney in the 1950s. (Grandma really must have believed in it because that's expensive!!)

This woman from the 1960s is exercising using one of these 'slimming' machines. She DOESN'T EVEN NEED WORKOUT CLOTHES — that's how easy this 'weight-reducing' system is.

Overton grandkids

We went to Kathy and Don's for dinner and they had their daughters there with their grandkids.  Ethan was the favorite plaything and he had so much fun playing with the kids.  He said they were "adorable" and I think they stole his heart.

They were playing with his feet while watching him play a game on his 3DS.  He was the main attraction.

The kids played hide and seek and the little girls had his hands and were pulling him around.  It was great.
