ID Card

I made Ethan get his ID card at Snow Canyon in case he wants to do anything at the school, like go to a dance or a game or something.  He wasn't too excited but he did it.

Before school starts, they have the picture people at the high school to take pictures.  We went and paid Ethan's fees and then got his picture taken.  The photographer took one picture and asked me if I liked it.  I thought it was fine but she said there was a glare so she took a second one.  I didn't know which one to choose so she let Ethan pick.  He liked the first photo better but she didn't so she said "Let's just pick the second picture, ok?"  As we walked away Ethan said, "Why ask me if you're going to pick the one you want to pick?"  It was pretty funny!

Button Pushing

This is a picture of a big brother pushing the buttons of his little sister and the little sister is exasperated!  Usually, the button pushing is about the comics, but today it was about something Ethan saw on Courtney's computer that he had to make fun of.  Oh, the joys!

Warrior Mountain Biking

Ethan is on the Snow Canyon High Mountain Bike Team.  The Flying Monkeys got too large so they split it up between all the high schools.  Ethan got his team shirt after practice and I think it's nice.  The kids wanted pink for the logo but they settled on gold because the school colors are gold, blue, and green.

Ethan's team shirt:

The logos:

The man who developed the logo went into all kinds of details about what it means and what each symbol is that he included.  The Warrior is the mascot of SCHS but they wanted something to call their own.  I like it, although it doesn't look like steam is coming out of his ears. ;)

First Day of School!

Monday, August 13th was the first day of school.  Courtney goes to Snow Canyon Middle School and rides the bus, so she had to get up early and get ready.  The bus leaves at about 8:36 am and we aren't the last stop this year.  The bus goes up Pioneer Parkway and makes a stop where Courtney's best friend gets on, so it's nice.  Courtney has PE, Math, Honors Language Arts, Shop, Digital Literacy, US History, Volleyball and Book Club for the Movies.  They have A and B days so she has 4 classes one day and 4 classes the other day with volleyball and book club as extra advisory classes.  The bus brings her back to our neighborhood by 3 pm each day so she has a full day!

Cute Courtney:

Ethan goes to Success Academy at Dixie State University and it didn't start until Tuesday so he slept in.  He has seminary at Snow Canyon High so he did have to go there the first day of school but they had a modified schedule so his seminary class was from 2:22-2:31 pm.  It was kind of a waste for him to go because they introduced the teachers then let the students go but I made him go anyway.  He started at Success Academy on August 14th.  On Monday, Wednesday and Friday Ethan has class at Success from 8 am to noon and on Tuesday and Thursday, he has class at Success from 8 to 11 am and then a lab from 3:30-4:20 pm.  On B Day he has seminary at Snow Canyon High at 12:25-1:35 pm.  So his days are kind of crazy but he has plenty of time to do his homework, which is good.  He has English 2010, History 1700, Math 1040, Mech 1000, Mech 1050, Science Research, and a leadership class all juniors take.  He's busy!

I didn't get a picture of Ethan's first day of school, which is a bummer!

Donut

We couldn't forget the Texas donut for Courtney's birthday!  We got it for her on Monday...which happened to be the first day of school so she didn't mind at all.

Courtney's 13th Birthday!

We have 2 teenagers in the house!!  Courtney requested a breakfast of sausage, eggs and monkey bread.

She convinced Bryan that she needed to open a few presents before going to Church, so she opened Ethan's gift to her.  He bought her a soccer ball and new shin guards.  She was so excited!

That evening, we had a family party.  Usually, she wants to have pizza, but since it was Sunday, we had roast, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob.  Then she opened presents and we had cake and ice cream.

Courtney got a bunch of school supplies: backpack and lunch box.  She also got a bunch of money, which was awesome!

She wanted a candy bowl cake, which is really easy to make, so she got it.  The only problem: it was HUGE!  So I ended up calling around and sending cake to a bunch of neighbors.  It's great because all I had to do was ask "want cake?" and they came over to get it!

I think she had a fun birthday!

Friend Party

Courtney's 13th birthday was on a Sunday so we had her friend birthday party on Saturday night.  She wanted something easy and laid back, so they had a game night.  We bought them pizza and then left them alone.  They played games and had a lot of fun.  Bryan and I hid in our room and Ethan was at work, but it got super loud with the girls giggling for hours while they played.

Her birthday cake:

Her friends really know her because she got a bunch of sour patch candy and sharpies!  They had cupcakes and ice cream for dessert.  I think they all had a fun night.
