He's an adult!

It is absolutely crazy to think that Ethan is now 18 years old, but it has happened.  We had a family birthday party for his on Sunday and then we celebrated on Monday, which was his actual birthday, with just the 4 of us.

He had a birthday dinner of steak and garlic potatoes, then we had cake and ice cream.  Courtney made his cakes for him and she did a great job. 

He then got to open presents.  He asked for things to prepare him for his mission so that's what he got.  He got his mission phone with accessories.  It was a fun night to celebrate.

Neighborhood Concert

We have a man in our ward who is in a band.  He went door to door asking all the neighbors if they were okay with the band giving a concert.  I told him we were happy to listen!

They set up on a Saturday night on their driveway and then all of the neighborhood came out to listen.  Some stayed near their own houses and others of us congregated in the drive ways of our neighbors to visit and watch.  It has been so long since we have been to Church and seen all our friends that it was fun to socialize.  One neighbor was selling rootbeer floats for 5 cents a piece!  It was a great night and they were a great band!

Family Pictures

It was time to have family pictures and we found an amazing photographer who did a great job. We had planned to go to the field next to Sullivan soccer park but I woke up Saturday morning to find out that the field had burned the day before.  I texted the photographer to find out where else we could go for pictures and she found a field in Santa Clara to use.  Bryan and my dad were skeptical but the pictures turned out great.

Sports Girl

This scene made me pause and want to record it.  She is a sports girl through and through.  Too bad you can't see her track spikes along with the soccer balls, basketball, and cleats.

Courtney bakes

Courtney started baking when she got bored.  She made cupcakes (which I took to work), chocolate chip cookies (which I took to work), and cut up cakes (which I took to work).  I have now been told not to bring any more sweets to work. ;)  But she has done an amazing job learning a new skill.

Project Protect

LDS Charities, along with Project Protect, asked for people to sign up and get kits to make masks to be used in hospitals by medical personnel.  This opportunity was given to people in the Salt Lake Valley, but then they opened it up in our area.

I signed up because I didn't think it would be hard to make masks.  I had made a bunch of masks for a woman in our ward to give to her daughter-in-law, who is a nurse, and also a family friend who is a nurse, so I didn't think it would be too bad to make these ones.

Ethan picked up the kit for me and then we all got to work making them.  We had an assembly line going and everyone helped, at least a little.

We picked up the kits on Tuesday and the finished product had to be returned Saturday morning.  It ended up being a lot more time consuming than I thought it would be.  It wasn't hard work but it was tedious.  The masks were all cut out with notches that showed where to fold it.  It was absolutely genius the way they had them all figured out.  We just had to sew, cut strings, fold, sew, cut strings, sew, cut strings, and we were done.

Each kit was 100 masks and it took us about 16 hours total to complete the kit.  But it was so nice to know that I had a skill that was helping someone.

Success Swag Bag

As one final act for Success Academy, they gave all the graduations a swag bag.  Ethan went over to get his along with picking up his yearbook.
