Courtney wanted to make a Valentine's box with a letter "C" on the top. Bryan helped her but they had a rough time figuring out how to make it all work. Finally they decided on duct tape and I got to hold things while Bryan taped it up. Then we wrapped it and it all worked. The "C" had an end open so they would put the cards in the top of the C and they will fall down where the bottom was open and emptied into the box. It was clever but Courtney didn't win any awards. Oh well, it was fun and we realized that it is the last time we will have to make a Valentine's box. That's sad!!

Rage Soccer Tournament
Courtney was on the tournament team for her soccer club and was able to play in three games at the Rage Soccer Tournament in St. George over Valentine's weekend. They lost all three games but Courtney did a great job. She has really improved and figured out where to be on the field and how to contribute the best for her team. It was fun to watch her. Her number is usual 2 but there was another girl who made the team and her number was also 2 so they put a piece of blue tape to make the number 1 after the 2 on her jersey. So Courtney was number 21 for the tournament.
Pizazz at Dixie State
Courtney had a dance performance at the halftime of the women's game at Dixie State University. I got her ready and took her over to perform. Unfortunately the group ahead of Pizazz took a long time so the girls only got to do half of their usual dances. It was a mess and the athletic director asked the group to come back in a few weeks to do both the girls and the boys basketball halftime shows. I was glad that Courtney got to dance. The little girls didn't even get to do their routine. They were really sad.
Here is our cute dance girl in her costume.
Yes, those eyelashes are real!! We are hoping next year to be able to pass them off as fake so we don't have to put fake eyelashes on her. I can't believe how long those things are! I love the freckles too. Such a doll!!
The routine they did get to do:

Poor Toe
In December Ethan had his right big toe fixed for ingrown toenails. A week into February he came to me and told me he had an ingrown toenail on his right foot. Poor kid can't catch a break at all. I called the podiatrist and made an appointment. I tried to get it on a day that isn't so hard for Ethan to miss because I knew he would be down all day.
Ethan has inherited wide nail beds on his toes. That means that both Bryan and I have wide nail beds so no matter how well Ethan does cutting his toe nails, he will get ingrown nails if we don't get them thinned up. He was resigned to that fact and we figured we should just get it done now and then he won't ever have to mess with them again.
The doctor came into the room and said Ethan looked a lot taller than last time. He is like a weed! Then the doctor examined his toe. He said it needed to be fixed and I asked if he could do both sides at the same time so we would be finished. After examining the non-ingrown side the doctor agreed that it would be best to take care of it all at once. And then the shots began. Ethan knew what to expect but it still took a ton of medicine to deaden up his toe. Then the doctor got to work. It was bloody, gross and kind of loud. But it is all taken care of and Ethan is happy now.
Waiting for the doctor:

Kids Dentist
We have finally found a dentist for the kids that we all like. The last one told Ethan to "open up like an alligator." Yup, he didn't take well to that as a 12 year old. The one before that was really rough and Ethan was terrified of the man. This dentist is great and has been really fun. Now, don't get me wrong, the kids still don't enjoy going but at least they don't fight me on it.
I was impressed with the hygienist Ethan had because he had springs in his braces at the time and that made for a lot of metal to work around. But she did a good job and had him cleaned up in no time. Neither one had cavities and the dentist commented on how well they have been cleaning their teeth. Courtney picked a prize but that was too "little kid" for Ethan.

Nerd Day
It was nerd day at the elementary school and Courtney got into the act. She kept asking me what a nerd looked like and I would tell her but she wouldn't believe me. She kept asking "Is that an 80s nerd or a real nerd?" Like there is a difference! A nerd is a nerd is a nerd. I think she pulled it off pretty well.
Bowling
We decided to go bowling for a Friday night family activity. After bowling, the kids pretended to play video games. We had a lot of fun!
This is Ethan's weird face...
The results: Bryan beat Ethan by only one point and I beat Courtney by only one point!
Tennis
Snow Canyon Game
We enjoy going to the high school basketball games. The coaching staff is made up of 3 of our neighbors and so the majority of the neighborhood shows up to watch the games. It's pretty fun. Courtney's dance group would also be performing so we had a double reason to be there.
At the start of the game they announced that the Denver Nugget mascot would be at the game. How random is that?! The students had a lot of fun with him and he was all over the place. A couple of time I think he ticked the refs off a bit but it was all in good fun.

At halftime it was time to watch Courtney dance. She did a great job!
