Soldier Hollow Mountain Bike Race
On October 22nd Ethan had another mountain bike race. This time it was at Soldier Hollow near Heber City. This was the cross country skiing venue for the 2002 Winter Olympics so it is a great venue.
This is the team huddle where they yell "Who are we?" "Monkeys" "What do we want?" "The Moon!"
Ethan's start went well. He rode Bryan's bike and it was bigger so he was able to bike easier. I think it made a difference but his chain came off once so it was a bit frustrating.
Ethan is up there somewhere.
This is his first lap. It was fun to see him come by.
There he goes starting his second lap.
Finishing!
His ranking went to 33rd out of 72 riders in the Southern Region.
This is the drone footage of the Freshman race but we couldn't see Ethan. It does show you the trail they took: bike race, the second lap, finishing
The Pit Zone is like a little city. There was a tower you can get up on and overlook the venue, so I got up there and took a picture of the Monkey's pit zone.

Crockpot Applesauce
Our neighbor called to see if she could borrow my apple corer/peeler and when she was finished she gave me a bunch of apples. It was a crazy week so I decided to do the easy thing and make crockpot applesauce. It's super easy. You just put the apples, water, brown sugar and cinnamon in a crockpot and let it go. Over 2 days I made 6 batches so we now have applesauce, which the family loves!
Ethan pulling the van out
I do not condone anything on this video...but I wanted to put it here for our family history.
Bryan needed the van moved out of the garage so he could cut the drywall, which it turns out should NOT be cut on a table saw. What a mess! Ethan, as he always does, asks it he can drive the van and Bryan said "Yes." Ethan jumped at the chance and Bryan let him pull the van out of the garage. As you can hear from the video, I was VERY nervous and Bryan just laughed at me.
Ethan was one happy boy but this is as much as he will get to drive until he turns 15 and gets his learners permit. Yes, he only has until May before he can take the written test and start practicing driving! Does that make anyone else nervous?

Filling in the door
We had a Saturday that actually didn't have a race or a soccer game, so Bryan filled in the door to our bedroom that was in the hall by the laundry room. You now enter our bedroom from the door that was to the office. Confused yet?
He started by taking the molding off. Ethan helped with this part.
Bryan then built a frame that would fit in the doorway so he would have something to nail the drywall to. We realized that I am a pretty good aim with a hammer!
There it is.
Bryan cut some drywall to fit the hole and we put it on our bedroom side of the wall. We are going to put a toilet where the X is on the floor and then put in a wall to make a little 1/2 bath. Because of this, we didn't finish the other side of the doorway-now-a-wall.
We need to finish the other part of the wall (as you can see in the photo) and then we can paint and finish up. It is coming together.

Eagle Mountain Bike Race
On October 8th Ethan had a mountain bike race in Eagle Mountain (on the West side of Utah Lake). The road to get the venue was awful (think big rocks in the middle of the road and lots of powdery dirt) but the venue was great. Ethan really liked the trail. He did really well. His ranking went from 52 to 45.
Here are the pictures of the race and the videos are down below.
This is the start of the race. You can find Ethan by his bright green helmet.
This is was at the end of the first lap. He was looking good but his bike looks a little small.
This is the finish!
He was met by his cute sister who couldn't wait to help him take care of his bike.
He is a Warrior Monkey. ;)
This is the video of the Eagle Mountain Start:

Glass Etching
I bought some glass water jugs for Stake YW and I didn't want to lose them. So I Googled how to etch glass and did it!
