Ethan's Drinks

My parents took us to Red Robin for my birthday dinner. The waiter was very efficient and brought Ethan another Sprite before he finished the first one. He was a bit shocked to have two drinks, but then decided it was pretty neat because he could drink both at once!

Courtney Got the Camera

Courtney decided on my birthday that she needed to be the official photographer. Since it's digital and can be erased easily we decided to let her take a few. She really didn't get the hang of it, but here are some of her masterpieces.

Family Picture

My family had photos taken when we were together at Thanksgiving. The photographer gave us a couple of disks with all our photos on them so we could have them printed ourselves. I have put off having any printed because I couldn't find a photo that I really liked. It seemed that someone was always looking another way or had their eyes closed.

Bryan's parents gave me Photoshop for my birthday and I started playing around with it. I pulled up the three photos I liked people in and cut someone's head off this one and put it on that one until...voila! I now have a photo where everyone is looking forward and looking cute! (The first shot at this I thought I did really well, but later noticed that I took out my arm but left my hand sitting on my lap!)Now I just have to get some printed up.

She's humble!

Courtney and I were running errands this morning and we were behind an off-duty fire engine. Courtney wanted me to catch up with it because she wanted to see the fire engine up close. It went into a turn lane and we went by it. Right as we drove past, Courtney said, "Mom, the firefighters looked at me. They were thinking, 'Look at that beautiful girl.'"

Yeah, she's humble. ;)

Say What?!

Kids say the funniest things.

Courtney was asked to give the prayer in Junior Primary today. They asked if she needed help and she told them "no" so they let her at it. She gave a wonderful prayer. I was a little nervous because she usually blesses the food in every prayer and I wasn't sure if she was going to do that or not. But she thanked Hevenly Father for the "wonderful music" they would be singing that day. It was cute.

Ethan went home teaching with Bryan today At the first house they were talking about potty training (their youngest is a little younger than Courtney) and Ethan told a potty training story. At the next house Bryan was giving the lesson and asked if there was a time someone could share when they should have given warning (I think that was the question). Ethan raised his hand and Bryan knew what he was going to say and tried to put him off, but Ethan wouldn't be put off. Finally Ethan got to tell his story (the same one he told at the previous house) about a time when he was potty training and I took him to Target. I slipped on something in an aisle and realized that Ethan had peed his pants all over Target. The moral of his story was that he should have given me warning that he was going to pee. The family, apparently, cracked up!

Then tonight, as if that all wasn't enough, I was making smoothies in the blender with Courtney as my assistant. When it came time to blend it, Courtney covered her ears. When I stopped the blender she said, "Whoa, I was almost overcome!" Bryan and I just looked at each other and laughed. Sometimes I think she is a 16 year old trapped in a 3 year old body!

Early Birthday

My birthday is tomorrow and my parents have a tradition of taking us out for our birthday dinner. When I was a kid, this meant going to Price and eating at China City (the fanciest restaurant we had around). I loved it because it meant going someplace to eat something I didn't eat normally. Now, it doesn't just mean that we get to eat out at a restaurant, but it means that I don't have to make dinner.

This year they are taking us out on my birthday so Bryan decided to make my birthday dinner a day earlier. He made a wonderful roast, potatoes, salad and green beans. Then he made me a German chocolate cake. Ethan was a bit upset that we were going to have my birthday cake a day early, but then decided it was okay when Bryan told him that we could have cake two days in a row.

Dancing Fools!

When we were newly married we took a dance class in American Fork with two other couples we were friends with. It was really fun and was a good date night. We paid for a series of classes and each week after the class we would go to a couple's house and watch movies. Those were good memories.

Bryan wanted to take me out for my birthday but there wasn't a movie we wanted to watch and I wasn't in the mood for a play. Bryan had noticed a flier for free dance lessons at the Church. A couple gives these lessons at a Church by Dixie High School and you don't have to pay anything, just be prepared to have fun. So we decided to do that.

We got a babysitter, went to dinner at Olive Garden (seriously, if anyone wants to make buck they just have to come to St. George and open a Macaroni Grill, it took 45 minutes to get into Olive Garden and that's normal), shopped a bit and then drove to the Church. The teachers were teaching the Latin Rumba and it was so much fun. After 1 1/2 hours we were getting it and I was pretty impressed with us.

This morning we decided to show the kids what we had been up to the night before. I have latin music so I put some on and we started dancing. Ethan was really interested in learning the steps so I taught him the box step using a tile in our entry way. Courtney wanted to dance too but she just wanted to hop around to the music. It was pretty fun!
