I'm so embarrassing!
Bryan and I just went on a date to watch the new Harry Potter movie. I have read the books and loved them, so I was excited to see the movie. If you haven't seen the movie but are planning to, sorry if I give away a scary part. But here is what happened.
I jump in movies. I don't know why I do but I really jump in movies. I usually can tell when I'm getting tense and I am considerate enough to turn to Bryan and say, "I'm going to jump." I do this as an early warning system so he can be prepared to have him arm ripped off or some other form of bodily harm.
Tonight, during the scene in the old lady's house in Godric's Hollow I jumped when the snake continually attacked Harry. I jumped when Hermione struck the snake and it fell down the stairs. But I really jumped (and completely embarrassed Bryan by trying to shield myself with his body while screaming) when the snake came back over the landing and attacked. I wasn't expecting that!!
Bryan looked at my like I was crazy and couldn't believe that I had just freaked out that badly. In my defense, I had warned him previously that "I am going to jump." Apparently he hasn't ever seen me, in the 12 years we have been married, completely freak out at a movie.
The bad part was that because I freaked out so bad, we completely missed about 10 seconds of the movie and everyone else was laughing and we didn't get what had happened. Ugh! Bryan believes they were laughing at me. I don't think so.
Anyway, I guess I'll just have to watch the movie again and hope I don't freak out so I can see what happens after they strike the snake for the second time after it attacks them over the landing. Did that make sense?

Yard Sale Anyone?!
The kids wanted me to buy them a Zhu Zhu Pet (if you don't know, those are little hamster-like toys that roll around and make noises). I told them "no" so they decided to take matters into their own hands.
On Wednesday, Courtney spent all afternoon getting her toys together that she wanted to sell at a yard sale in front of our house. Then she took her little table, umbrella, toys and a sign outside and waited...and waited...and waited. After 30 minutes of sitting there and no one coming by, she closed up shop. (It was during school so there wasn't anyone to come by but she wouldn't listen to me!)
On Thursday, Courtney decided to try again. She put out her little table, umbrella and toys and waited...then the bus came and so all the kids saw what she was selling. Ethan thought this was a great idea, so he went inside and asked me to help him grab everything he wanted to sell. Soon, we had a bunch of neighborhood kids selling/buying things in front of our house. The kids were in heaven.
I was in heaven, too. See, when the kids go outside and are busy, I can purge their rooms of all the junk they have accumulated. After an hour, I had cleared out 2 garbage bags of junk (papers, old toys, etc.) from Courtney's room and 1 garbage bag from Ethan's. I had also gone through their closets and gotten rid of another 2 garbage bags of old clothes (I gave Courtney's to a friend in the neighborhood and Ethan's went to DI).
I usually try to do this while they are at school, but this time I thought it would be best if they had a part in the process. It was great!! Their room were so clean...for a couple of hours. But still, I felt like I had done something great.
After 2 hours of yard sale, Ethan had made $7.00 and Courtney had made $5.00. They sold all the toys for 25 cents, so they sold a ton of stuff. What they didn't sell went directly into the back of the van and was dropped at DI on Friday afternoon...the same time we went to Walmart so they could buy Zhu Zhu Pets. I figure I won because we got rid of 20 toys and only got back 2! Yeah!!
I told them they could have a yard sale anytime they wanted.

He did awesome!! We need to work on his transition times (although his total transition time is only 30 seconds behind Bryan's). He was only 3 minutes 24 seconds behind the leader, too. I wonder what his swim time would have been if his goggles hadn't of slipped off at the start. I timed him on Friday night and he got 1 minutes 8 seconds. Well, we learned for next time...adjust the goggles before the race!

Turkey Triathlon!
Our two male turkeys of the family participated in the Annual Turkey Triathlon ;) And they did a GREAT JOB!!
Bryan's triathlon was first. He did the beginner one which was shorter than the last one he did. It was a 200 yd swim, 5 mile bike, 1.5 mile run. I didn't get any photos of him in the pool because I was taking video. And I didn't get any photos of him finishing because I had accidentally switched the camera to video. Oops! But he did an awesome job! I am always so impressed by how he loves doing triathlons. He placed 14 overall and 4th in his age division. If he would have been born 1 month earlier, he would have been 2nd in his age division. Oh well.
This year there were quite a few more competitors than last year and he would have smoked quite a few people...had he competed last year. But having the Iron Man in St. George seemed to light a fire under a lot of people around here so there were quite a few more competitors this year. Which means he still did really well!

Ethan wanted to do the kids triathlon so we signed him up and got him ready to go. He was a bit nervous. He liked to know what is going on and have as much information as he can before doing something. So we watched Bryan and I pointed things out to Ethan but he was still a bit nervous. His main concern was that he wouldn't know where to turn around, but Bryan assured him that someone would be there to help him. He did a 50 yd. swim, 1 mile bike, ½ mile run.
Ethan was excited for the swim because he loves to swim. His goggles were broken and he has been using Courtney's pink pair. He was a bit self conscious, so we went to the store and bought him some new ones this morning. I asked him if he needed them fitted, but he told me they fit just fine.
When it was Ethan's turn, he ran to his lane, jumped in and his goggles ended up on his chin. He didn't want to mess with them but he hates getting water in his eyes, so he struggled for the first lap until he got to Bryan, who told him to get them adjusted. Then he took off!!
After his two laps, he ran to the transition point and Bryan was there in case he needed it, but he did great. He dried off, put on a shirt, put on shoes/socks, got him number and helmet on and was off! His bike was in a low gear so he had to adjust that at first, but he did great.
Soon, he was back and ready to transition to running, which means he took off his helmet and parked his bike. Then he was off like a man possessed. He wanted to win BADLY!! He sprinted and dodged people out of the transition area. We ran to the finish line to wait for him. Soon we saw him walking/running along (he got a really bad side ache) but when he saw the finish line and us, he made a huge run for it! We don't know his time because they haven't been posted yet, but I'll let you know when we find out.
I was so proud and he did such a great job! He can't wait for his next triathlon...or the next 1 mile race we have in a few weeks! ;)

Our Anniversary!
Our 12th anniversary was on November 7th and we decided to take a trip back to Manti (where we were married) to spend time in the Temple. Bryan's parents came from Colorado to watch the kids while we were gone and the kids had a BLAST!! They went to McDonalds (twice), Applebees, swimming, bowling, out to ice cream, to the Temple Visitor Center and shopping. What more could a kid want?!
We stayed in a cute Bed and Breakfast right down the hill from the Temple. After a slight scenic detour to check out Fish Lake, we got to Manti, checked in and then went to Ephraim to look around and see what movies were there. We ate dinner then went to Mega Mind (really hilarious movie). It was a fun evening.
The next day after a home cooked breakfast, we did a session at the Manti Temple (a live session) and then we did sealings for a while. It was fun to be back in the Temple and remember our wedding day. We asked if we could see the "blue room" where we were married but they had a sealing going on in the room and we didn't want to wait that long to see it. So we went back, rook naps, read books, watched the BYU game, watched Utah get kicked, and then we went for a walk along Main Street looking for a place to buy little things for the kids. We ate a wonderful dinner at the B&B that night to celebrate, although it was a day early.
Sunday we had another home cooked breakfast, checked out, walked around the Temple, sat and talked for quite a while, and then drove home. Ethan sent us a text saying that they were going to the St. George Temple for a while (Grandma's way of distracting him from the fact he was fasting, great job!!) so we decided to drop by and see if we could find them. The kids were surprised and happy to see us! It was fun to watch them recognize us and then run up to us.
After a wonderful dinner and visits, we were all ready for bed. This morning after the bus left, Grandma and Grandpa Pack headed for home. The kids will miss them and we really appreciate them coming to help us out!!

Staheli Farms Field Trip
Courtney's kindergarten class went to Staheli Farms for their field trip. It's a real working (i.e. smelly) farm that has a lot of animals. She has been there twice before and both times I had to carry her because the animals scared her. This time I debated whether or not I wanted to go because it's a pain to carry her around for 1 1/2 hours, but I didn't want her teacher to be stuck with the duty...so I went. And Courtney did awesome. She even got in the pen with goats and pigs and petted them! I was amazed!
The farm dog still freaked her out and she wouldn't get close to the chickens, but she did great otherwise. We even got a tractor ride. It was a lot of fun. Even the crazy driving bus driver didn't deter from the good time, it just added another element of surprise to the trip! Who knew that a bus could run so many stop signs and not get hit once! ;)
