Orchestra Concert

Courtney had her last concert with the early morning orchestra last week.  She was really excited to show how well she has progressed.  Next year she will have orchestra during the day so she doesn't have to go at 7 a.m.!  She is pretty excited about that one!

Here are some of their songs:

Chopsticks
Celtic Dance
Batman meets Bowman
Russian Music Box

Dinner Drama

I made a new recipe for dinner and the kids did not like it at all!  They complained and said they would rather starve than eat it.  We made fun of them and tried to tease them out of it but they weren't having any of it.  Courtney kept saying it was making her throw up and Ethan just said it was gross.  After a long time of hearing the griping and the complaining, Bryan decided to video Ethan trying to gag down dinner.  This is what he got....

If the video doesn't work, here is the link: Video of Ethan
Yeah, no big deal!

Chicken

March and April are really windy times of the year in Ivins.  While the boys were on their backpacking trip we had a really strong wind storm in Ivins.  (They didn't feel it where they were at all!)  Our neighbor's tree had fallen down the day before so I was really nervous that our trees would crash into the house.

During the night, the power went out quite a few times.  Everything seemed to come back on just fine but the circuit breaker had tripped downstairs.  The fridge and the freezer didn't have power for a couple of days.  Luckily, we found out before a huge 30 pound box of chicken went bad.  Because you can't re-freeze chicken once it has thawed I ended up spending Monday bottling chicken.  It was crazy but I got all 30 pounds bottled and it ended up being 30 bottles.  Yeah!

I was lucky that it was pretty cool on the day I bottled because this raises the temperature in the house quite a lot!

He's getting tall!

Don and Kathy took us to dinner to celebrate Don's birthday!  When we got up to leave, we noticed that Ethan is now taller than Don.

Ethan wasn't feeling well when we were at dinner (he was getting over a cold but still had the stupid cough) but he was ok to take a picture showing how tall he is.

Dance Competition

Courtney had her final dance competition of the year.  They did an amazing job and walked away with first and second on their routines.  They were so excited and so were the moms.  This was a much better competition than the last one because teams were mostly from Utah and their costumes were modest.  The last competition was horrible and scarring for those of us who were there.

I didn't video tape the routines because I have done that quite a lot but I did video tape them dancing while waiting for the results.  This is the best part because the girls love being at the competition because they make it so much fun!  I don't know if you can find Courtney in the throng of girls but she is in a while costume with a white flower in her hair, and she is the smallest one.

Backpacking with the Scouts

Bryan and Ethan went on a backpacking trip with the Scouts.  They didn't go too far from home, but they had a great time.
