There is a new way to take selfies, which I find just silly. Back in the day (when I was a kid) you would have to turn the camera around and take a selfie, not knowing until you developed the film whether or not you got a good pic of yourself. Kids now can just look at themselves and use the camera that is facing them. But the silly kids have decided to make it harder on themselves. They put their phone in .5x mode and use the back camera to take the pic. It works and they all claim the pictures are better than with the camera facing them. Oh well. Courtney had to show me how it works and they are cute pics but I think it's the subjects and not the way they were taken. ;)

Mario Kart
The young women had a daddy-daughter video game night. It was a Mario Kart competition where the girls and their dads competed against each other. It was a lot of fun for the girls but Courtney was exhausted. She has been going to summer soccer so she gets up at 5:40 am and likes to go to bed early. Her plan for the activity was to lose in the first game and then go home but her competitive nature wouldn't let her. She won the first game so she had to stay for the next game to see how she would do.
Courtney didn't really care much about the second game, so they lost that one and she was able to go home. But the girls had fun and Bryan had a blast spending time with Courtney. I think they are going to try and do this again.

Cleaning the basement
Now that we are getting things more finished in the basement, it was time to move things into place. Bryan, Courtney and I moved the shelves (temporary ones until we build some in) into the library. Then Courtney and I spent the day putting books on the shelves and, of course, looking at old books and movies. It was so much fun to see everything again. It has been boxed up for about 18 months while we worked on the basement, so some books haven't been accessible. Courtney loved seeing her old friends. And we found some fun treasures on the way.
In Courtney's old school stuff was a cute little declaration "I love Ethan" that she had written on the back of a school book.

Girls camp
Courtney had her last year at girl's camp this summer. Since she was doing summer soccer, she didn't spend the night. Camp was held at the Ence cabin in Pinto so it was easy enough to drive her up and back each day. She would go to soccer and then I would drive her up and bring her back that evening.
They did crafts, played games, did a relay, and hung around with each other. I was able to go because I am serving in young women. It was fun to be there with Courtney.
We have a large yw group.
It was a beautiful area and we had fun going on walks while the yw were journaling.
There was a polaroid camera and we were asked to take pics. One of the other leaders and I figured out how to take selfies (there is a mirror on the front so you can get a good pic), so we took some. ;)
Courtney with her craft:
Cute girls, Courtney and Hayley. They have been friends since they were really little and it was fun to see them together at camp.

Bathroom accent wall
I am having a lot of fun doing accent walls. I wanted to do one in the shower room of the bathroom. We got the supplies and I tackled it. It wasn't very hard and I was happy with the way it turned out! Now Courtney has places to hang her many towels that she uses each time she showers (haha).

Eagle Scout plaque
Julie was in San Ramon for Church on Sunday. She sent us these pics, which were so cool. It is the Eagle Scout wall in the San Ramon building showing Bryan's name as an Eagle Scout. Bryan loved seeing it and all the names of his friends from growing up.

Another temple trip
We try to have monthly temple trips for the youth and this one was on June 4th. We usually go to the Cedar City temple now that appointments are a bit easier to snag. Bryan went with us to help with confirmations. It is good to get the young women in the temple each month and its even more fun when Courtney is able to come along!
Courtney is the floating head above the word "of" in the sign.
