Courtney tried out for Jr. All Starzz again this year. There was a bit of drama surrounding it because girls can try out for jr all starzz from grades 3rd through 6th and they can try out for all starzz from grades 6th through 12th. Most of the girls Courtney was friends with on jr all starzz last year are now 7th graders so they couldn't try out for jr all starzz and wanted Courtney to try out for all starzz with them. She didn't want to be left behind but didn't really want to try out for the older group. She finally decided to only try out for jr all starzz since it would be her last year for eligibility. I was really glad she made that decision.
She did amazing! She worked really hard to learn the dance and all the skills. She wasn't really nervous with tryouts because she had done it 2 years before and knew what to expect her 3rd time around.
They brought the girls into the room in groups of 4 and they did technique for the judges and then were dismissed.
The groups were invited back in to perform the choregraphed routine they had learned the week before. They had 8 counts they were responsible to choregraph themselves as a "solo" so you will see that. They performed the same dance twice so they could switch the girls from the front to the back. The judges wanted to make sure the girls knew the dance themselves and not because they were watching those in front of them.
Courtney choregraphed her solo all by herself and did a great job. Here is the dance (Courtney is on the left):
The second time:
We left tryouts and went home to relax for a little while before going back to find out if she had made it and....
She was very excited and can't wait to start learning their routines!
