Powder Mountain Race 1

Ethan's first mountain bike race of the season was on September 16th at Powder Mountain.  He wasn't really looking forward to it because Powder Mountain is his least favorite course.  We decided to make it easier and have Bryan take Ethan up while Courtney and I stayed home.  Since the boys would be alone, they decided to sleep in the van.  There was camping at the location but they figured it would be easier to stay in the van.

I bought them an air mattress that would fit in the back of the van if the middle seats were taken out and the back was lying down.  And they had a lot of fun.

They cooked bratwursts for dinner, set up the van, and went to bed.  Here's their set up:

The next morning it was freezing!!  They were miserable and when it was time for Ethan's race, he was bundled up and ready to ride.  Here he is at staging:

The coach who is a photographer got this cool pic of Ethan on the ride.  He caught some air and it's a great photo.

He did really well.  He finished 6 minutes faster than last year on the same trail. So he was happy with how he did, especially since it was so cold and miserable.

They drove home that night and got home pretty late.  I stayed up to wait for them and find out how Ethan did.  They didn't stay for podiums but we found out later that Snow Canyon had won 2nd place at the race!  They got a pretty nice trophy that is up at the high school in the main office.

The season is off to a good start!
