They packed up a lot earlier than they told us they would, so they were home in the mid-morning instead of 1:00. Courtney was excited to tell me all about youth conference and didn't stop talking for quite a while.

Night Games
They played a bunch of night games with glow sticks. They had a lot of fun playing kickball, frisbee golf, and singing with rocks.
Youth Conference
I dropped Courtney off at the Church this morning so she could head out to Youth Conference! It is ward level this year, which she loves a lot better than Stake, and they are going to a member's ranch in Logandale, NV. There are 2 boats going with them and they will spend Thursday at Lake Mead playing with the boats and on the shore. The boys are sleeping in tents and the girls are sleeping in the horse stalls that have been power washed and will have tarps on the ground. It should be a great time!
Here they are loading up. Courtney is in the back, in the middle, behind the kid with the yellow hat on.
Youth Conference is a "Cell Phone Free Zone." The couple in charge always take pictures and post them online so I have been getting pictures of their activities all day long.
Here are the girl's sleeping arrangements. Courtney is on the right.
Suns out, guns out! 😂
The young women:
Cute girlies! Courtney, Maddie, Hayley, Tonya, McKaye, and Lacy.
These cute girls are the ones that shared a horse stall. They had a cricket who took up residence with them but they didn't want him there.

Ethan Calls!
We got to talk to Ethan again on Friday when they had their rescheduled p-day. It was fun to talk to him on Tuesday, Friday, and then again on Tuesday. We are seriously spoiled.
He called us from the gym in their apartment building. He was in the kid's room so you can see butterflies on the wall behind him.

Vaccines
Courtney got her first Covid vaccination on Saturday. I made her an appointment at the old hospital (where she was born) but we really didn't need an appointment. It wasn't crowded at all and didn't have a line. They had the system down and we were in and out really quickly (minus the 15 minutes we had to wait for observation after the vaccination). Courtney didn't flinch and it was so quick that I didn't even get time to take a picture. I had her pause outside so I could get a picture and she wasn't amused with me.

7 Elite Tryouts
It's that time of the year again...when all the club teams have their tryouts. Courtney was staying on the same team but had to still go through the tryout process. It was held on Tuesday and Thursday then they were told the results on Friday. She had a couple of friends who were also trying out so she was excited.
Courtney made it and so did Sammie. They will be on the same team again, which they are pretty excited about. I didn't get to go to tryouts because Sammie can drive and having your mom drop you off is just too uncool.
Courtney was sweating it on Friday though. Her friends had gotten their acceptance emails to the team but she hadn't. We waited and then I asked the coach when they were coming. He said that there had been a glitch in the system but that they were sending the emails again in about 30 minutes so to check then. After an hour, we still hadn't heard and Courtney was pretty upset. I told her we would wait a couple more hours and then text the coach again.
Three hours later we still hadn't heard anything so I asked the coach if they were still having a glitch with their system. He said they were but that Courtney had made the team. I thanked him and let her know so she would relax. That night, we finally got the acceptance email and everything was fine.
They start practices with the new team next week and it will be fun!

Yearbook
Courtney was on the yearbook for Success Academy. I took pictures of all the times she was in the yearbook, except for the class photo which she hates and told me not to take a picture of. haha!
You'll see a theme: Hayley, Kooper and Courtney. ;)
Flooring
We are getting ready to finish our basement. Courtney and I went out and spent the morning trying to figure out what we want as far as paint color, flooring, etc. It was fun and we had a blast. We decided that Home Depot is the place to go because we found everything we liked there and it was easy.
While we were looking at flooring at Home Depot, an old guy who works there walked by and said "Come with me." We looked at each other and then followed him to the back of the store. There was clearance flooring and they had 23 boxes of the flooring we were looking at but super CHEAP! He gave us a sample to "show the hubby" and we went home. After talking to Bryan about it, Courtney and I went back that night to get it. It loaded down the van and I was so grateful we made it home, but we now have the flooring.

End of Track Season
The end of the season awards night was held at Snow Canyon High for the track team. Courtney got a pin for getting a Personal Record during the season. She doesn't know which event and doesn't think it really happened but she is going with it. haha! She had fun with her friends at the track meets but she had a problem with a strain in her quad. She wanted to letter this year in the 200 meter but didn't quite get there (1 second away) and she thinks that if her quad would have been fine, that she could have done it. There's always next season!
Ethan's Birthday!
It's p-day and also Ethan's 19th birthday!! We were excited to be able to talk to him on his birthday but...Monday night he messaged me to say that they had a general authority in their mission that week and p-day was moved to Friday. But he still had permission to call and talk to us. I was glad.
He called and we had a good chat with him. He just got transferred so we got to hear about his companion and his new area. He is doing really well.
Then he got to open his birthday package. I was nervous that he wouldn't get anything on his birthday and I was also unsure about transfers, so I sent him his birthday party in a box early so he could have it. I was glad I did when he got transferred because then I didn't have to worry about it not getting to him.
He opened his box and it was fun to see his face. I put in a cake mix, frosting, sprinkles, candles, party hats, a pinata with candy, a bat to hit the pinata with, balloons, an air pump, treats (cosmic brownies and Red Vines), and a lego birthday cake kit from Courtney. He loved it all. I think he was most excited about the Lego because it wasn't too long after our call ended that he sent me pictures of the finished product. He said it was weird because he hasn't touched Legos in 10 months but he loved it.
It's weird to think that Ethan is now 19 years old!!
