Snow Canyon High School has a REALLY good baseball team. On Friday night, we all went to Snow Canyon to watch them play against Desert Hills High School. This was a very tense game because Snow Canyon had to win to continue on.
Snow Canyon was first in the region until one of their players was found to be ineligible (some paperwork wasn't completely properly) so 4 games were thrown out and they went from 1st place to 5th. The game Friday night against Desert Hills would keep them alive and make it so they would be able to have a "play-in" game for State. (I think I have that all correct.)
Snow Canyon ended up winning the game on Friday night (it was a mercy-rule game meaning that by the 5th inning they were up so much that the game was called). It was a great game to watch because it was a big deal and our team was good. The catcher is our next-door-neighbor and a freshman. So we had another reason to cheer hard.
The play-in game was announced for Saturday night at Dixie High School, neutral territory. Once again, Snow Canyon would be playing Desert Hills but this time it was for everything. The loser would be done for the season. Once again, it was a tense game, but Snow Canyon ended up winning handily, although I was concerned at first because they were behind for a while.
It was fun to sit in the sun, eat KFC and watch baseball. The kids had fun (Brennon was there so Ethan had a friend to play with) and we had our baseball fix. The team plays again this weekend at a 4 game tournament in Salt Lake City.
Go Warriors!!
