Day 1 was Saturday. We woke up, drove to Mark & Kristina's house in Garden Grove, visited for a while, switched luggage into Don & Kathy's car, parked our car in Mark & Kristina's garage, drove to Kevin's house, switched the luggage into Kevin's van and then Kevin drove us to the dock.
We got unloaded and then waited in line for a long time to board the ship. They looked at our travel documents, gave us our room key, took our picture, and then we got on the ship. Our captain's name was Captain Thore. I thought that was funny!
We went to look at our state room (which was nice) and then went to get lunch at the buffet. After lunch, we explored around, attended the mandatory "if the ship sinks this is what you do" meeting and went to the pool to relax.
We had 6:00 reservations to eat dinner but it took us a lot longer to get on the ship than we had planned, so we moved it to 6:30. The dining room was very nice and the 7 of us were on a table together (which was nice). Our waiter's name was John and he was from India.
We were pretty tired after the long day so we went back to our state room and went to bed.
